Marie Osmond On Why She's Not Leaving Her Kids Any Inheritance

Speaking to Us Weekly, the former child star seemed perturbed by the idea of leaving kids inheritance as she noted that she could not comprehend why anyone would not want to "enable' their child to try to be something. She relayed that she did not know anyone "who becomes anything if they are just handed money."

The music star continued by sharing what she considered to be the greatest gift a parent could give their child. Osmond stated, "To me, the greatest gift you can give your child is a passion to search out who they are inside and to work."

Using herself as a case study, the One Bad Apple singer explained how she had been able to become versatile by doing different things from designing dolls to her other many endeavors. Osmond described herself as a "finisher" who wanted to try everything new.

The Hollywood royalty went on speaking about her values relaying that she has passed on the rule of finishing whatever one started, to her kids. She continued by stating that she felt an inheritance would "breed laziness and entitlement" Osmond shared that she worked hard and would spend it all with her spouse.

The first time the sister of Donny Osmond mentioned her belief was during a session on The Talk.IT was in 2020, and the ladies had been discussing the late Hollywood great Kirk Douglas who died at 103. The movie star reportedly left his multi-million dollar fortune to charity and Osmond bought into the idea. She stated there and then that she would not be leaving any to her kids too.

The 63-year-old made it known that when parents just go ahead to hand their children a fortune they did them a disservice. She relayed that action meant taking away the one most important gift that they can receive which was "the ability to work." She went further noting that kids of wealthy parents usually "don't know what to do," and they get "in trouble." At this point, she shared that she would be giving her fortune to charity as well.

The actress and singer pretty much grew up in the spotlight having been born into the showbiz family of The Osmonds. Hers was a large family, and it is safe to say that this influenced her to have her own large brood. Osmond re-married her first husband Steve Craig, and she welcomed eight children. Her kids are Stephen, Jessica, Rachel, Brandon, Brianna, Matthew Abigail, and Michael who passed away in 2010.

Stephen Blosil is Osmond's first child with her spouse Stephen Craig. The duo was married from 1982 to 1985, and she married her second husband, Brian Blosil, he adopted Stephen thereby changing his last name. Stephen Jr. just like his mother is a singer and an actor. He is currently in his late thirties and has built a family of his own including three children.

Jessica is Osmond's second child and her adopted daughter with Brian. Unlike her mom, Jessica did not look into showbiz but rather built a career as a police officer and counselor in Utah. Jessica came out as bisexual in 2009, and he mother was very supportive.

Osmond and Brian's first biological child is Rachel, who was born in 1989. Osmond has shared that she and Rachel are similar in many ways, but they do not share similar passions when it comes to choosing career paths. Rachel is a costume designer and hairstylist. She is married with two children.

He was the couple's next adopted child, born in 1991. Unfortunately, Michael died by suicide in 2010. Osmond relayed that her son was bullied a lot and thus tampered with his mental health.

Brandon joined the growing Osmond-Blosil family when he was adopted as a baby in 1996. He followed in his mom's footsteps and has a band called Navarre. The group has described their music as metalcore.

Brianna Patricia Blosil was born in 1997 and was adopted by Osmond and Brian in the same year. She has grown up to become a makeup artist and is married to David Schwep. Brianna currently has two kids.

Matthew is Osmond's second biological child with her former husband and he was born in 1999. H is one of Osmond's kids who followed in her musical footsteps. Matthew is a saxophonist who has performed at Carnegie Hall and Macy's Day Parade.

She is the youngest of Marie Osmond's children, born in 2002. Abigail completed high school in 2021 and is exploring her years as a teenager. She face some difficult moments when her mom and dad became divorced in 2007, but according to Osmond, her first husband, Stephen, fills in as the perfect stepdad.
