Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming-Willis, is sharing an update on how she has been handling Bruce's aphasia diagnosis.

According to HopkinsMedicine.org, aphasia is a disorder caused by severe trauma or damage to a specific part of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension. "Aphasia leaves a person unable to communicate effectively with others," the website reads. While Emma hasn't shared much publicly about the family's struggles with the disorder, she has opened up on her Instagram for National Grief Awareness Day.

Bruce Willis has been an iconic actor and household name for almost five decades.

Best known for his starring roles in cult-classic films like Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, Pulp Fiction, and Armageddon, Bruce's work as an actor has spanned genres and captured the hearts of fans everywhere. Unfortunately, Bruce recently announced a retirement from acting alongside a health diagnosis.

Bruce's aphasia diagnosis was announced in March.

"To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities," a statement shared to social media announced. "This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit."

Bruce's wife, Emma, shared an update on their journey as a family.

"This was the summer of self discovery—finding new hobbies, going out of my comfort zone and staying active," Emma captioned the post, which included footage of herself and her family enjoying various activities over the summer.

"My grief can be paralyzing but I’m learning how to live along side it."

"As my step-daughter @scoutlaruewillis told me, grief is the deepest and purest form of love," she wrote. "I hope you find some comfort in that too 💞 #nationalgriefawarenessday #griefawareness #liveitup."

We're sending the entire Willis clan love and support.
