Anne Heche, 53, Dies After Being Taken Off Life Support

Actress Anne Heche has passed away a week after a tragic car crash, The Guardian reports.

Following a catastrophic car accident on August 5th, Anne Heche had been in critical condition, suffering a "severe anoxic brain injury" and remaining in a coma. A statement had previously confirmed that Heche was "not expected to survive."

Heche was a talented actress beloved by many.

Best known for her work on films including the Psycho remake, Donnie Brasco, Volcano, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Cedar Rapids, Heche was also celebrated for her work portraying twins Vicky and Marley on the soap opera Another World, for which she won a Daytime Emmy Award and two Soap Opera Digest awards.

Heche was in critical condition following a car crash on August 5th after driving her vehicle into a residence.

LAPD sources told TMZ that Anne had her blood tested after she was admitted to the hospital. In addition to cocaine, they also found fentanyl in her system at the time of the crash.

The woman who owned the residence that was destroyed following the crash was unharmed, and over $125K has been raised to help her recover from the damages.

On Thursday night, it was announced that Anne Heche was on life support and not expected to survive.

"We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne's recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital," a statement read at the time.

"Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit," the statement read. "More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life's work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light."

Heche has now passed away after being taken off life support, The Guardian reports.

The news was also broken by Nancy Davis, a friend of Heche's who shared the news on Instagram.

"Heaven has a new Angel . My loving , kind , fun , endearing and beautiful friend @anneheche went to heaven," she wrote. "I will miss her terribly and cherish all the beautiful memories we have shared . Anne was always the kindest, most thoughtful person who always brought out the best in me. She was so supportive with anything she could do to help."

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.

Heche was 53. She is survived by her two children, Atlas and Homer, age 13 and 20.
