The music industry is notoriously difficult, and American Idol alum Mishavonna Henson knows this better than anyone. The singer, who appeared on the show's 8th season, is asking fans of the show for help after she has found herself homeless and struggling with medical bills.

Now, the young woman has started a GoFundMe page in hopes of eliminating some of her financial woes.

"American Idol" fans will remember Mishavonna when she appeared on Season 8 of the show back in 2009.

Her Top 36 performance of Train’s classic “Drops of Jupiter" grabbed the attention of millions of viewers. After her time on the reality competition show was over, the singer recorded a Christmas duet with country star Crystal Gayle in 2010 and got married a few years after that.

While taking a break from music, fans have kept up with Mishavonna on social media.

Now, the singer is asking her fans and followers for help after stumbling upon difficult times.

In a heartfelt message to fans on her GoFundMe page, Mishavonna informed readers she had recently found herself homeless.

"I currently live in my car, and besides being nearly 4 months late on my car payment, my battery is dying, my oil is basically putrid, and I can’t run the AC even though it’s the middle of summer," she explained.

"On top of all of that, I have SO many hospital bills. I’ve visited the ER five times this year already."

"And lastly, but probably the most important, I can’t afford my insurance which means I can’t afford my medications and that will end up deadly."

"I’m diagnosed schizoaffective, I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and Gastroparesis. I absolutely cannot go without my meds."

She finished by saying this was a "life or death" situation and that "every penny counts."
