Full House star Jodie Sweetin is a beloved child star that fans have grown up with since the ’90s. Stephanie Tanner was a fixture in pop culture, which made her return to the franchise in the Netflix spin-off series Fuller House . Was the show cringe? Yes. Did I watch every single episode of every single season? Absolutely yes.
In addition to being an actress, Jodie has never been shy about her social justice activism, which has made her an even bigger legend in the hearts and minds of millions of fans. Unfortunately, this activism placed Jodie in a frightening situation with the police this past weekend.
Now, the 40-year-old is speaking out in a powerful statement.
On Friday, it was announced that the Supreme Court had overturned Roe v. Wade.

The landmark supreme court case , which had lasted only 49 years in the USA, was overturned. The decision to overturn the historic ruling was decided on by the Supreme Court, which consists of six men and three women .
The controversial decision sparked countless protests across the country, including one in L.A. this past weekend.
The peaceful protest soon escalated into a violent event when Full House star Jodie Sweetin was manhandled by police in riot gear.
The disturbing video, filmed by photographer Michael Ade , went viral in the hours following the event.
In the video, Jodie was knocked back by police before falling down the curb and tripping into the crowd.
Jodie is quick to pick herself up and continue as she’s recorded re-joining the crowd in their chants while being visibly and understandably shaken up.
As you can imagine, reactions online have been plentiful.
Jodie posted the video in tandem with the activist Instagram account The Progressives, who praised her for her boots-on-the-ground activism.
“This is hard to watch, @jodiesweetin is a great friend of ours and has been advocating a long time for progressives,” they wrote. “Thank you @bellikemike for capturing this on video. #nojusticenopeace .”
In the comments, Jodie thanked the Instagram account for posting.
“Thank you for posting. Love everyone out there in the streets fighting for what’s right…,” Jodie wrote, while ending with the hashtag #WeKeepUsSafe .
On Monday, the Fuller House actress went on E! New’s Daily Pop to address the situation.
“I was walking and one of the officers just snatched my bag and tossed me forward,” she recalled.
“We took care of the situation. We didn’t use that as an excuse to do anything further, we continued our march and we were out there probably another four or five hours marching downtown.”
Despite the disturbing altercation, Jodie doesn’t want this to be the event that people focus on.
“Above all, I want to continue to not make this about me,” she explained, “and continue to bring the focus back to women’s rights and also police brutality.”
“If people are disturbed by what they saw, let me tell you, I’ve spent a lot of time protesting out in the streets and that is a very minor incident of police brutality.”
“People are shocked when they see Stephanie Tanner, something happened to her and all of a sudden, it makes it more real. And I hate that,” she added.
“I hate it takes people knowing someone or it being someone that they recognize for people to be outraged or to take action,” she continued, “which is why I’ve been out there and I’ve been really committed the last couple of years.”
Thankfully, this experience hasn’t changed Jodie’s opinions on protesting. “I’ll still be out there. I’ll still keep going. This is part of what you do when you’re committed to trying to do the best you can. I don’t want to make it about me.”
What a total rockstar she is!
