Earlier this month, the WWE legend John Cena visited a town outside of Amsterdam to surprise Misha Rohozhyn, a non-verbal super fan with Down syndrome. Rohozhyn and his family recently resettled in their new home after their old one was destroyed by Russian forces amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.

On June 7th, WWE shared a video of the 47-year-old wrestler posing with Misha Rohozhyn, a non-verbal super fan with Down syndrome, and his mother, Liana Rohozhyn. To motivate Misha to leave their home, Liana told her son they were going to meet John Cena — not expecting him to actually show up.

After hearing the tragic story of Misha and Liana's family home, Cena, who was already in Europe at the time for work, traveled to Amsterdam to meet them on June 5.

The pair spent time chatting, eating cake, and building blocks.

"When I read about Misha's story, you know, it reached out to me — not just Misha's story but the story of Misha's mom as well," Cena says in the video.

"I had three days off from work, right at the time that I read this story, and being an hour away by air it turned immediately into: 'We're going,'" he added.

"And that means spending an afternoon building blocks and eating cake," Cena continued.

"That's a special afternoon when it comes to the new friends I was able to make," the 47-year-old WWE star shared.

"Misha's ability to embrace persistence, it's extraordinary," Cena went on, explaining the words written on the T-shirt he was wearing."Those words, 'never give up.' We've all thought about those in our life, they're very powerful."

He continued: "I think Misha's a great example [and] Misha's mom are two great examples of how persistence can lead to joy. Even through the toughest of times."

"This was a wonderful adventure," he said to Misha. "In which I got to meet a wonderful new friend."
