Bindi And Robert Irwin Post Heartfelt Tributes To Steve On His 60th Birthday

Even a casual follower of the Irwin's family's adventures is well aware of how large the late Crocodile Hunter looms in their hearts.

And while part of that obviously has to do with the fact that they're surrounded by his legacy every day and carrying on his life's work, it's clear from the way they talk about him that this would be true even if they all took different paths.

So when a milestone comes up that he's not around to celebrate, it's hard to let it pass without thinking about him. And that's especially true today, as it would have been his 60th birthday if things had turned out differently.

Within hours of each other, both Bindi and Robert Irwin posted touching tributes to their father via Instagram on February 22.

First was Bindi, who wrote, "Happy Birthday to the greatest dad and Wildlife Warrior" alongside this photo depicting Steve showing her an interesting snake.

In her words, "I love you with all my heart. Your legacy lives on."

Although her caption was fairly short, it also made it clear that she'd be spending the day quietly reminiscing with her daughter, Grace Warrior.

As Bindi put it, "Today I’ll watch ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ with Grace Warrior and share stories about her incredible Grandpa Crocodile."

As for Robert, he shared a similar memory of his dad, who clearly knew how to show his kids a fun time.

In Robert's words, "Happy birthday Dad. I love you and I miss you more every single day. My earliest memories are my fondest, thanks to you."

And while we can see that one of those early memories involved Steve taking him on rides around the Australia Zoo with his motorcycle, he apparently followed that up with ice cream for breakfast.

And on this bittersweet day, he's pledging to take Steve's old motorcycle out for his own lap around the zoo.

As Robert put it, "Every minute spent with you was a blessing."
