There isn't ever really a great time to break up with someone. But I can safely say that doing it on their birthday would be one of the worst times.

Superbad star Seth Rogen recently got candid and recalled being dumped on his birthday before he met his wife Lauren Miller in 2004.

Is there ever a good time to break up with someone? It's an age-old dating dilemma.

While breakups are inherently difficult no matter when they happen, breaking up with someone on their birthday is just downright cruel, and if you can believe it, someone did it to Seth Rogen.

Long before meeting his wife, Lauren Miller, back in 2004, Seth Rogen wasn't dealt the best hand in love.

On a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Pineapple Express actor got candid about his unfavorable dating history.

The 39-year-old comedian recalled "the worst" date he has ever been on, and it was a doozy.

"I was terrible," Seth began explaining before detailing the one date-gone-wrong that has evidently stuck with him after all these years.

"I was a bad dater. I had terrible experiences dating women," he went on.

He admitted that while his dating experience hasn't been ideal, he also might've not been the ideal partner.

"I think the women who dated me also did not have the best experiences," he confessed.

He revealed that when he was 20, he was casually dating a woman a few years older than him, and the pair had gone out for dinner to celebrate his birthday that year.

Seth thought it would also be a good opportunity to ask the woman to officially be his girlfriend.

Presumably anxious to ask the woman such a high-stakes question, he decided to get it over with before their food had arrived at their table.

"I asked her around when the appetizers were arriving and she said no," he said, adding that after being rejected, he began to feel weepy.

"And then I started crying," the "Pam & Tommy" star said.

Because Seth had chosen to ask the woman at the start of the date as opposed to the end, he felt obligated to stay and finish his meal, in spite of the tears falling into his bowl of pasta, and the gutting feeling of humiliation from being dumped — which I can only imagine was 10 times worse since it happened on his birthday.

"I had to sit there and this poor woman had to sit there with me as I wept into my truffle mac and cheese," he said.

Moral of the story? If you're going to formally ask someone to be your significant other over dinner, wait until the end of the meal.

"You don’t ask until the end of the meal," Seth joked.

While I wouldn't wish this unfortunate dating experience on anyone, it does build character! And on the bright side, Seth doesn't seem to have any hard feelings.
