They say that you should never meet your heroes because if they turn out to be less amazing than you imagined, it may completely taint your perception of them. Quite a few Reddit users can vouch for that.
People are sharing celebrities that have lost their respect and why, and it's the best tea I've read all week.
For one Reddit user, Gwyneth's latest business venture with Goop crossed was a dealbreaker.
"Gwyneth Paltrow and her [expletive] Goop products that are bad for you," they wrote, while another added, "Came here to say this!! I feel like in the '90s she was one of the great beauties of film, but she was also so intelligent and sophisticated. Now she sells people jade eggs to stick up their hoo-haw."
One Reddit user explained that the time Demi Lovato called out a frozen yogurt company was the last straw.
"Demi Lovato. Don’t get me started on the frozen yogurt place fiasco. They wrongly called out a small business to their millions of followers, just because the store had 'sugar-free' products for diabetics, vegans, and those with Celiac disease," u/AFKTECH1010 wrote.
Another person revealed that she and a friend of hers ran into Demi IRL and things did not go well. "A few years ago I was with a coworker friend and Demi Lovato was at an event near where we worked," they wrote. "My friend was so over the moon..."
"Demi walks our way and my friend starts to say things like "OMG you got me through my depression and-" Demi made a face, rolled her eyes and walked around us. It broke my friends heart. She never mentioned Demi after that."
"Met Lea Michele for a moment outside the Broadway stage door during one of the early performances of Spring Awakening. And I say for a moment because she tried to breeze past everyone there as if she couldn’t be bothered," ShangryYoungMan wrote. "My friend managed to catch her for a moment to say ‘you were so great in the show’ and she said back ‘okay’ and then covered her face and turned away. Keep in mind this was before Lea Michele was anybody (outside of the nerdy theater community)."
"Wendy Williams she is just an ugly person on the inside in general," someone penned. "She has threatened and belittled staff, and farted on national TV and blamed a chair," Reddit user Current_Leather7256 wrote.
"Ever notice how Ellen's real enthusiasm and excitement only comes out when she's jump-scaring people? She has dead eyes for the entire interview until [someone] dressed as a spider jumps out on her guest. Then she lights up like a Christmas tree at the sight of their fear," Micktrex wrote.
"Ellen DeGeneres. She made Taylor Swift cry and practically bullied her on live TV, outed Mariah Carey’s pregnancy, need I go on? She treats her guests like trash," brooke0127 wrote.
"I worked security at a local concert venue for over 10 years and she was hands down the meanest artist that I rubbed elbows with," one person wrote. "One night, I was asked to stay late and work a meet & greet in the catering trailer after her show. I stood next to Alicia and her assistant at the time..."
"Being so close, I was able to hear every word she said to her assistant and it wasn't pretty. She basically bad-mouthed the entire group - she had something negative to say about almost everyone's outfits and appearance."
"I met Usher at a party once. One of the rudest and most diva-like people I have ever met," another Reddit user penned. "Mid-conversation [ he asked] what made me think I could approach him."
"Flight attendant here," the Reddit user began. "Martha Stewart is miserable. She and her crew bought the entire first-class cabin out."
"She pre-ordered a meal and when I gave it to her, she said “What’s this?”. I replied “Your meal that you ordered.....?” Then she snaps back, “Take it back it's disgusting.” On top of all that she went to the [bathroom] barefoot twice."
"I worked as a stagehand, setting up and breaking down concerts. She had 20 semi trucks worth of gear - we worked for hours on end," wras123 shared. "At the end of the night, her security guards held up flattened cardboard boxes and told us to look down. Beyonce doesn't like to be looked at by stagehands."

She showed Ariana her homemade t-shirt that she made especially for the concert, and Ariana just laughed in her face and said 'What is that?' And made my cousin feel awful about herself. "My brother is a D-tier actor in Australia. Has worked with Rebel Wilson a fair bit. He said she’s the most unpleasant person he’s ever encountered. Makes everyone treat her like an absolute diva. She also body-shamed her body double, who had gained weight in between different shoots," u/My_hips_hurt penned.
One person called out Chris for the bizarre birthday message he wrote for his wife via Instagram in 2021.
"Chris Pratt. Making an Instagram post praising your new wife for 'having a healthy child' when your ex-wife had major health issues delivering your other child is such a scumbag move," the Reddit user wrote.
"Dr Phil. Now I realize he just uses sick minded people for his own profit," said one Reddit user.
Even though the Dr. Phil show has been scrutinized heavily, the show has been renewed until May 2023, which will be its 21st season.
"He was a hugely influential voice in my formative years. A man I looked up to when I had none in my real life. I even met him and he was everything I dreamed he would be.
To say I was devastated is an understatement."
"R.Kelly. Growing up, I loved his music. I would walk down the halls of school singing 'I'm A Flirt.' Now, I am ashamed that I was so into his music as a teen."
Given the serious allegations against R. Kelly, it's easy to see why so many are reconsidering being fans of his music.
"I used to love her back in the late 2000s and watch her 30 Minute Meals program all the time on Food Network. I even bought some of her cookbooks. Then I found out she's a monster to fans in real life and she started shilling for corporate America and doing her lousy talk show."
"Not only did she give a major platform to Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil, she also was good friends with Harvey Weinstein and kept her mouth shut about him, then went on to give a pro-Me-Too speech at the Oscars after he was arrested and got thunderous applause."
