Earlier this week, it was announced that TV host and father of seven Nick Cannon was expecting his eighth child. The news came less than two months after the tragic news of Nick's youngest son Zen's death in December.

Now, the 41-year-old is opening up about his decision to embark on a "celibacy journey" during a new episode of his eponymous talk show.

On Monday, Nick announced that he was expecting his eighth child.

The Masked Singer host is already dad to Mariah Carey's 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, 4-year-old Golden and 1-year-old Powerful Queen, who he shares with Brittany Bell, and 7-month-old twins, Zion and Zillion, who he shares with Abby De La Rosa.

In December, " The Masked Singer" host revealed the tragic news that his five-month-old son Zen had passed away.

As it turns out, Nick's girlfriend Bre Tiesi was pregnant at the time but held off sharing the announcement out of respect for Zen's mother, Alyssa Scott.

Now that he's expecting his eighth child, Nick opened up about his decision to practice celibacy last year.

"My therapist was one of the [people] who said I should probably be celibate and the reason why is because I had shared that news about Bre being pregnant," he said on the show, as per People.

"That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then. So for anyone who's thinking, 'Oh he wasn't celibate,' I was!"

"I felt like I was out of control and honestly, celibacy did help me through the journey of getting one with myself and being able to deal with this," he added.

Despite his positive experience, Nick went on to admit that he is no longer celibate, adding that he "almost made it to New Year" like he originally planned.

Well, as long as Nick is happy and the children he fathered are loved and being taken care of, that's all we can really ask!
