1. Kirk Cameron is her brother.
While Candace was on Full House growing up, Kirk was working on another popular sitcom: Growing Pains .
He played Mike Seaver from 1985-1992. Their careers merged when Kirk appeared on a 1988 episode of Full House .
The same thing happened for Candace, who appeared on *Growing Pains*.
Her role as Jenny Foster on the show even helped her land the role of DJ Tanner on Full House .
“I had done a few things,” she recalled to Today , “And then when they were casting ‘Full House’ two years after that, then they were like, ‘Oh, it’s Kirk’s little sister.’ And they saw a couple episodes of ‘Growing Pains’ that I was on.”
2. She took her on-screen *Full House* boyfriend to prom.
This really happened!
“#TBT to my real life senior prom with @scottweinger . Yup, this really did happen (Awwwww.) Should DJ and Steve be together or is this ancient history? #TeamSteve #TeamMatt,” she wrote on Instagram while promoting Season 2 of Fuller House .
3. She has been married to her husband, Val, for 24 years.
Their love story goes all the way back to when they were just teenagers.
They were introduced in 1994 by Dave Coulier, aka Uncle Joey, from Full House .
“We were looking at these two cute men on the ice, and I was like ‘I wanna meet that one, the blonde one,’ which was Val,” she told *Us Weekly*.
They had a whirlwind romance after that, as they got engaged within a year and got married on June 22, 1996.
4. She has three kids.
She had her eldest, Natasha, when she was 22. Two years later, came a son, Lev, and then another son, Maksim.
Having kids hasn’t changed married life too much, as Bure told OK Magazine that she and Val get frisky even if the kids are home.
5. She’s a Hallmark movie star:
She’s been a staple for the network since 2008 when she starred in Moonlight & Mistletoe .
She had been filming the latest Aurora Teagarden film for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries when production got shut down due to COVID.
6. She’s a devout Christian.
Her religious beliefs and conservative stance on politics may rub some people the wrong way, but she stands firm in what she believes.
She wrote about this in her book, Kind is the New Classy .
“Acting, writing, speaking, mothering – none of these are my primary purpose,” she wrote.
“They are the roles God has given me to live out my higher purpose of glorifying Him.” She added that her purpose is to “bring God glory.”
7. She’s passionate about fitness.
Age hasn’t slowed this star down. She’ll find time to work out, even after long days on set.
“So if I can get in 10 push-ups here and there, do a couple squats while I’m waiting in line for something, that’s what I do,” she told Fox News .
8. She almost wasn’t in *Fuller House*.
That’s because the reboot almost didn’t happen!
“Funny enough now all the networks had passed on the show and […] Netflix was our very last pitch,” she told All Mom Does .
She continued: “They took the show and we were all so excited when they did and everything had worked out for us to get back together and do it.”
The cast was able to make five seasons of the show, but it’s sadly not coming back for a sixth one.
The final season was announced in January 2019.
9. She was on *Dancing with the Stars*.
The actress competed on Season 18 of the star-studded show and came in third.
“It was such an amazing experience,” Cameron said in a Fox and Friends interview. “I learned so much about myself, so many life lessons that I will take away forever.”
10. She caught a lot of heat while on *The View*.
That’s because viewers didn’t like her right-wing views.
“I’ve never been more verbally abused in my life than on Twitter, and specifically in the last few months, having come on this show,” she said about the experience.
11. She’s a children’s book author.
She’s released six books in total so far. The latest one is called Candace Center Stage and it’s about a little girl’s love of dance.

12. She has her own wine label.
Candace, along with her husband, have owned and operated Bure Family Wines since 2006.
They fell in love with wine-making after visiting Napa Valley. “We couldn’t believe this place exists,” her husband told Wine Spectator .
13. She gets nervous around other celebs.
She, too, is a “fan-girl.” She told Us Weekly that she clammed up when she met Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez, and Kevin Costner.
“I was so embarrassed after. I just stared at them and smiled without [saying] a word.”
14. She has been criticized for taking a “submissive” approach to marriage.
The actress caused waves when she wrote in her 2014 book, Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose , that she leans on Val to make most of the family’s big decisions.
“I quickly learned that I had to find a way of honoring his take-charge personality and not get frustrated about his desire to have the final decision on just about everything,” she wrote.
“I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work.”
15. She is okay with her children going into acting.
She revealed that her boys are more into sports and don’t really think about Hollywood, but that her daughter is going back and forth between joining Hollywood or staying away.
She told yourteenmag.com that:
“I know the dedication it requires. And the hours that parents have to put in. So the drive needs to come from her. Right now, she’s just not sure, but if she decides to become an actor and her heart is fully in it, I will support her.”
16. She has a very important Christmas tradition with her children.
She and her family bring food and gifts to homeless shelters in an effort to bring some holiday cheer.
It is only after that that they go home and open the gifts under the tree.
17. She supports Hallmark’s decision to expand their movies and offer more diversity.
“They’re striving to be inclusive of all groups. And I think it’s absolutely wonderful. In the same vein, they allow me to make the type of movies that I want to, which are positive and family-friendly and also incorporate my faith into them,” she told The Washington Post .
“I’ve been able to do that a little bit in each movie, and I have some that are coming out that are even more actual faith-based movies that will be on a Hallmark Channel.”
“I think it’s a really great thing that they want all people to feel welcome and included in their programming.”
