While the exact date of this is a little blurry, Beyoncé previously told Seventeen that they met when she was 18.

Going by this, that put their initial meeting somewhere between September of 1999 and August of 2000.

They were friends for over a year before they started dating.

After meeting for the first time in 2000, they didn’t jump into things right away.

Instead, the rapper told Oprah that they got to know each other via phone. “That foundation is so important for a relationship,” he said.

2. They have matching tattoos.

The significance behind it is that they both love the number four .

“Being pregnant was very much like falling in love,” she continued.

“[Early into the pregnancy] I flew back to New York to get my checkup—and no heartbeat. Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat.”

8. The couple now have three healthy children.

They welcomed Blue Ivy on January 7, 2012, and then had twin boys, Sir and Rumi, in June 2017.
