Approaching a stranger you find attractive is daunting, especially if flirting is not your forte. Avoiding this part of the dating game has gotten easier with the popularity of online dating , but some people are taking that a little too far.
One woman got an extremely unexpected and unwelcome text from a man who got her number in less than savory ways, and she decided to share her experience.
When shopping alone, we reasonably expect that experience to remain solitary business.

They’re our errands to run and our private time to have, with the only interaction needed being speaking to whoever is checking us out.
One TikTok user was in for quite the surprise when another single shopper reached out to her in the creepiest of ways.
User @allyh0pe made a post showing off the text she got after returning home from shopping at Burlington Coat Factory.

The post has almost 450k views and 60k likes, and the comments are filled with people shocked that this happened to her.
In the video, she superimposes herself over a screenshot of the message, lip-synching to Miley Cyrus singing, “What does it mean?” a few times over.
The text begins with a simple, “Hi!”

It continues as such, “I was at the register next to you at Burlington earlier today.” It then moves into a creepier place with, “I heard you give your number for the receipt. I’m Jack, I was the one in the orange shirt.”
The caption from Ally reads, “Not only does Burlington have coats, it also has creeps […].”

A sentiment the comments were more than happy to agree with.
“Y’all there’s nothing cute about it,” urged one user. “Depending on how smart they are, they could find out WAY TOO MUCH about you just using your personal [phone number].”
Others shared their fear of things like this happening.

“The reason I hate places asking for my number. I’m always paranoid that someone would do this AND THEY DID […] stay safe girl,” wished one viewer.
Another comment, noting that Jack was wild for doing this in the first place, said, “Boy probably thought he was being so smooth with this too.”
Luckily, Ally seems to be taking it in good spirits in the comments.
When one commenter wrote, “Can I tell you the most toxic thing [about] me […] Depending on how he looked I might find this cute,” she replied with, “LMFAOOOOO I probably would too if I wasn’t emotionally unavailable right now.”
Still, the consensus is that this was an awfully creepy move. Men, this isn’t the way, just say hi in person.
