We are only just over a week away from December now which means the festivities for Christmas are about to get serious. If you ask me, the festive season started with the end of Halloween.
But for a few years now, many have said that it hasn’t felt the same, only for a TikTok claiming that the Christmas spirit is finally back this year to go viral.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Many people, including those who are in charge of setting up the Christmas markets around the world, have been preparing for the festivities since the start of the month.
With people buying decorations and Christmas gifts for their loved ones, everyone’s been getting ready.
The holiday hasn’t felt the same in recent years
A lot of people in both online and offline communities have stated that they had been feeling down about Christmas the past few years, especially since 2020.
Many feel as though the festive holiday hasn’t been the same since we all had to protect each other by experiencing it alone.
Things don’t have to stay heavy on the heart
While the Christmas spirit has felt a bit down in the past few years, many feel as though things are finally returning back to normal this year.
With recent snowfall in many areas and life picking up again, perhaps the Christmas spirit is back in 2024.
This year already feels different
For those who have felt heartbroken by the lack of Christmas cheer the past few years, this year is looking different.
In a viral post on TikTok, a user asked if others also feel like “it’s gonna be a more Christmassy Christmas than any of the last 3 they have had.”
Some people in the comments agreed
Under the video of the person walking in the snow, many joined the sentiment on the return of the Christmas spirit.
One person in the comments agreed regarding the changes in the past few years, “I think the 2020 effect has ended.”
Many users agree with the sentiment
More people under the post have agreed with the positive statement, “Yeah like last year didn’t feel right but I have a feeling this year is going to be better.”
Another person said, “I’m so glad everyone’s agreeing, I’m so ready.”
It’s agreed that Christmas will be kinder this year
One user said that they feel optimistic about the Christmas spirit in 2024, “I’m just so much more optimistic this year, and Christmas is feeling a lot more lively. [With] the lights etc. unlike last time I spent Christmas mostly indoors.”
Others are still struggling to feel the spirit
While many have expressed that this is the first year they sense the festive season in a long time, others admitted that they are still struggling with uncertainty.
One person confessed, “I actually have the complete opposite, totally not excited for Christmas this year..”
People have shared that losing loved ones will make it difficult
Although the Christmas spirit may be coming back for some, others are struggling with their emotions this year with it being the first time they celebrate the family holiday without a loved one.
A commenter shared, “First Christmas without my dad and I’m not looking forward to it at all.”
The Christmas magic persists
Losing a loved one in any way can make family events feel different, but the difference doesn’t always mean it has to be unenjoyable.
For one user, it’s still magical, “First Christmas without my grandad. And it feels more Christmassy. I believe my grandad’s making it the best Christmas so that I don’t get upset.”
