It’s awesome to see celebrities during this pandemic use their wealth and influence to help shape more vulnerable people’s lives for the better, and it shouldn’t be a surprise that director, writer, and producer Tyler Perry is one of them.
Information about the coronavirus pandemic is rapidly changing and Diply is committed to providing the most recent data as it becomes available. Some of the information in this story may have changed since publication, and we encourage readers to use online resources from CDC and WHO to stay up to date on the latest information surrounding COVID-19.
Tyler Perry, most well known for his ‘Madea’ series of films, is notoriously generous.

Perry once donated $400 thousand to two Walmarts in December of 2018 to cover all the items that every single customer had put on layaway, basically rendering Christmas free to all those families.
Perry has also stepped up during disasters before.

Perry used his own personal plane to help deliver supply and aid to the Bahamas during the devastation of Hurricane Dorian, and similarly used the plane to bring back passengers to the United States.
Now Perry is stepping up yet again to help those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Due to stay-at-home orders and social isolation, tons of restaurant workers are out of work. TMZ reports that Perry recently visited a Houston’s restaurant in Atlanta and gave every out-of-work server a $500 tip.
That’s $21,000 in total.

What an amazing gesture from a super generous man! Let’s hope more follow in his footsteps throughout this crisis to help workers who need it!
