Parents and children sharing, not sharing resemblances, are more common than you think.
With biracial children, the difference is more apparent as they often have one parent’s skin tone. In such cases, the question of the child’s parenthood comes into play as strangers find it difficult to draw parallels.
A mother on Reddit shared her story, saying a stranger in a shopping store called her a nanny because she didn’t look like her son. The incident shook her, and she took to Reddit to vent.
The Beginning

The Aftermath

The Full Story
The poster vented on the popular Am I The A-Hole thread saying she wasn’t sure where to start because the situation stunned her. She’s a 22-year-old North African woman dating a 23-year-old Asian man, the father of her one-year-old son, Rue.
Rue looks like his father in the complexion and faces his parents are aware of. During a routine grocery store run, a stranger initiated a conversation with the Redditor and became intrusive. The lady asked personal questions about the child and assumed his mother was a nanny due to their different appearances.
When the mother corrected the intrusive stranger and got a shocking response, the former decided to be petty. She feigned ignorance about her child’s race, thus making the intruder uncomfortable (ironically).
The intruder got upset at the response saying the mother should’ve clarified her relationship with the child rather than make a scene. Upon getting home, the Redditor’s mother added the same thought, so she wanted to know if she was an a-hole.

Be Alert
The summary of comments on the thread showed that the Original Poster’s experience is very common with biracial parents and their children.
One user warned others to be wary of people who highlight the difference in racial features between them and their children because they often turn out to be kidnappers.
According to that Poster, they think of stealing the children from their parents as a rescue rather than a felony.
There Was No Reason To Be Rude

The consensus was that the poster isn’t an a-hole and the intruder acted without manners. If you have nothing nice to say, keep quiet.
