For those of us who love to get our daily dose of pop culture and world news from the wonderfully hilarious and sassy ladies on The Talk , we’re going to have to look elsewhere, at least for a little while! The daily talk show has gone on a hiatus following recent controversy surrounding co-host Sharon Osbourne’s controversial defense of British television personality Piers Morgan last Wednesday.
Piers Morgan had recently created headlines for his controversial treatment of Meghan Markle, which Sharon defended as “not racist.”
Sharon and fellow co-host Sheryl Underwood got into an emotional discussion on last Wednesday’s episode of the show.
“I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist,” Sharon said .
Sharon later issued an apology for how she came off during the discussion.
“To anyone of color that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry. I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive & allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist take over. There are very few things that hurt my heart more than racism to feel associated with that spun me fast!” Sharon tweeted .
Former *The Talk* host Holly Robinson Peete also took to Twitter to claim Sharon said she was too “ghetto” for the show.
CBS has since announced that the March 15th and March 16th episodes will not be recorded as the show goes on hiatus to investigate this situation.
“We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace,” CBS said in a statement . “All matters related to the Wednesday episode of The Talk are currently under internal review.”
