Parenting involves making some tough choices, especially when it comes to your kids’ diet and exercise. While it’s important to make sure they’re eating healthy and staying active, it’s also important to allow them to be in control of their body and to maintain a healthy body image.
Teddi Mellencamp is being called out for the way her daughter is staying active during quarantine.
When you’re a celebrity posting pretty much anything about your children online, people are going to comment.
Almost everyone online thinks that their method of parenting is the best way to parent (and sometimes we’re guilty of this too!). There’s no harm in gently offering suggestions when they’re asked for, but most comments to celebrity moms aren’t wanted or needed.
Like when Coco Austin was shamed for kissing her daughter on the lips at 4 years old.

“All that kissing on the lips so much is grossing me out,” one fan told Coco, while another asked if anyone else found it “super weird.”
It doesn’t really seem like whether Coco kisses her daughter is anyone’s business!
Sometimes, however, the criticism comes more from a place of concern.

Everyone wants to make sure that kids in the public eye are being taken care of and that the parents are mindful of the kind of pressure their kid might be under as the child of a celebrity.
Teddi Mellencamp is best known for starring on *The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills*.

If her name sounds familiar to you, it might also be because her father is musician John Mellencamp!
As a reality star, Teddi is no stranger to drama. She’s found it again in her Instagram comments after sharing a video of her daughter exercising on a treadmill.
“Slate is 7 days in to her a mile a day challenge. Some days she walks. Some days she runs and tries to beat her fastest pace,” Teddi captioned the photo.
“She came up with this because she was having trouble sleeping after spending so much time on zoom during online school,” Teddi explained .
However, some fans didn’t find it to be an age-appropriate exercise for an eight-year-old, especially given that Teddi also runs a weight loss program, All In By Teddi .
“She is too young to be doing that kind of workout, she should be out playing!” one fan wrote in the comments.

“While I am all for kids exercising….this is absurd. An 8 year old should be playing and not worrying about body image,” one fan tweeted about the situation. Others worried about what the message being sent to Slate will be if her mother keeps posting her on the treadmill.
One fan questioned the validity of having Slate’s exercise be on a screen.

“Great she’s running but why not [outdoors]? Take her from one screen to another?” one fan asked, but Teddi had an answer for that!
Teddi responded, writing, “Yesterday was outside. Depends on our timing and weather etc.”
Some fans felt it was great to encourage kids to exercise.

“Hey, listen whether kids are walking outside, jogging intervals on a treadmill or riding bikes the importance of moving solid for 30 mins is so vital for better sleep and mental health,” commented Supernanny herself, Jo Frost.
“With all the technology so easy for them to become couch potatoes,” one fan wrote.

“Good job. Its hard keeping on top of the kids excercise [ sic ] during these crazy times. I have my kids doing 40 minutes of physical exercise a day just to keep them motivated,” they continued.
What do you think?

Is eight too young to be working out on a treadmill, or is it just good for kids to get exercise no matter what kind? Let us know what you think in the comments!
