BIG news for the Harry Potter fans! It looks like Rupert Grint isn’t totally shutting the door on playing Ron Weasley again—he’s just got two conditions.
Grint would totally come back, but only if two things happen

Rupert Grint is known for playing Ron Weasley, Harry Potter’s loyal and clumsy best friend. In a recent interview, the 36-year-old had people wondering if a reunion could actually happen.
He first showed up at just 11 years old in The Philosopher’s Stone

Then we saw him the last time when he waved his wand in The Deathly Hallows—Part 2 back in 2011.
Fans still aren’t over the possibility of NOT seeing the trio again
Harry Potter fans would lose it if Harry, Hermione, and Ron don’t make it back to the big screen.
The actor still feels like Ron is a part of him

Of course, Harry Potter stars already had a reunion in 2021 for the HBO special.
A reunion isn’t just up to him

In an interview with The Independent on October 9, Grint admitted that after spending so many years in the Hogwarts world—and missing out on a lot of regular childhood stuff—he kinda felt like he was done.
Adding that he felt the timing wasn’t always right

Back in January 2023, while promoting his thriller Knock at the Cabin, Rupert was asked about the Wizarding World during an interview. When the topic of Ron came up, and whether he’d ever play that role again, Grint didn’t completely shut it down.
“I think if the timing was right and everyone was coming back,” he said. “It was a character that was important to me—we kinda became the same person. I’m protective of him as well. It was my whole childhood.”
Some beloved cast members are no longer with us

Of course, some legendary cast members wouldn’t be able to return, like Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman, who sadly passed away after the series ended.
Radcliffe isn’t exactly rushing to play Harry again
As for Radcliffe, when asked in 2023 if he’d ever play Harry again, he didn’t seem too eager. “My understanding is that they’re trying to start fresh,” he said, adding that whoever’s behind it would probably want to make it their own thing, not bring in “old Harry” for a random cameo.
“I’m definitely not looking for it,” he admitted. “But I wish them all the luck in the world. I’m excited to see that torch passed. I just don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”
A reunion isn’t promised at this point

Rupert admitted how much Harry Potter changed his life. But the 36-year-old finally said, “Unfortunately, it doesn’t look likely. Sorry, Harry Potter fans.”
