You know, there are some pretty random things out in the world. Of course that makes sense, given how big the world really is. But that doesn’t make the random things in our lives any less random.
When it comes to the super random things in this list, I’m just really glad people were around to take pictures of them to post online .

“This building has a map of its location on the side.”
This is apparently a building in Chicago, which, like, checks out. It’s a cool concept and all, even though you could also do the same thing with your phone. Of course, looking at Goggle Maps isn’t quite as impressive.
“The way this mountain ridge holds the fog back like water.”
This is honestly so coo. It’s like the mountains are acting like a wall that’s keeping all of those clouds out of there. This is definitely one of the cool things about traveling in an airplane, since you couldn’t see this from the ground.
“Between the 2st and 4nd floors…”
A part of me wants to believe that this could’ve been a 13th floor in another universe. But since virtually no buildings have 13th floors (since it’s such an unlucky number), this is probably just a funny typo on the third floor.
“Herding the quack pack by tricking them with their own shadows. Ducks follow the leader.”
I think I can speak for most of us when I say that duck facts like this aren’t common knowledge. But I’m really glad that at least one person in the world knows how to look after ducks, and how to trick them with their own shadows.
“A Pecan Pie Vending Machine.”
I’m not gonna lie, I absolutely love this concept. But you have to admit, it’s kind of strange. Like, who decided to start filling a vending machine with pecan pies? I imagine the inside would have to be pretty cool, too.
“This tree has lost its leaves everywhere except where the light from the street light reaches.”
Even though streetlights don’t give off UV rays, I guess the light from them is enough to trick a tree into keeping some of its leaves. Too bad it probably can’t photosynthesize using a streetlight, though.
“My son’s Play-Doh handprint captured every line perfectly.”
This almost looks like someone’s actual hand that was just painted green. Like, if the indenters for the fingers weren’t so apparent, it would look so realistic. As it is, this is one thing you’d pretty much have to keep forever.
“I found this weird battery at work.”
It looks like even that cat thinks the battery is weird, which it is. It almost looks more like a lighter than something you’d stick in an electronic device (but the connector parts on the top kind of give it away).
“I work at a powder coating company. Cool coloring schemes occur when the floor isn’t cleaned in between colors.”
With a sight like this, why would you want to clean the floor? Okay, there are plenty of valid reasons to clean a factory floor when working with powder coating. At least pictures exist!
“This painted quarter I got as part of a tip tonight.”
Even though it’s starting to chip away a little, this 20-year-old quarter is really pretty! Was it to commemorate the 211th anniversary of Rhode Island? That seems like a bit of a random year, but oh well.
“Found a Pixelated Plant near my house.”
It looks like these leaves may have been getting uneven sun exposure. Either that, or they just naturally grow like that. Either way, it’s definitely super cool.
The leaves kind of look like something you’d find in a video game. Like Minecraft or something.
“Visible nailbed regrowth line after 10 years of biting nails.”
When they say biting your nails isn’t good for you, they weren’t kidding (whoever they are). I’m not really sure how this happens from biting your nails, but at least it looks like a sign that the nail is healthier now.
“Something decided to snack on one of my pumpkins this year.”
I guess whatever decided that this pumpkin was its next meal tried to be neat, but gave up with that idea pretty quickly. On the plus side, it’s not like whatever animal did this got inside the house.
“Found this board in a cabinet. Signed by a local builder 100 years ago.”
I know that people were alive years and centuries before us, but it’s still so weird to find random things that they’ve left behind in the past. It’s like uncovering history. Of course, a random cabinet isn’t really history, but it’s still cool!
“The inside of a dead palm tree.”
I’ve never once wondered what the inside of a palm tree trunk looked like, but I guess no I now. I wonder if it would be any different if the tree was still alive, but I feel like that would be harder to tell.
“The way this ice cube melted in my soup.”
This is definitely pretty cool, even if it is a bit random. Of course, using an ice cube to cool down a bowl of soup or a cup of coffee isn’t abnormal, you just don’t really see people do it a lot.
“A receipt found in a book from 1992. Not a vegetable in sight.”
I don’t know what’s stranger, the fact that this receipt has a boatload of stuff on it but only cost, like, $21, or the fact that this person bought all this stuff but not a single vegetable.
Man, I wish things were still this cheap.
“You can put temporary tattoos on bananas.”
I once knew someone who was training to be a tattoo artist, and they had to practice using bananas before they could try on human skin. I guess it makes sense that banana peels can be temporarily tatted, too.
“Found a frog in the center of my Mass. Cane!”
I’m not gonna lie, that frog looks pretty cozy. How it got in there is beyond me, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to move anytime soon.
If only we could all be as comfy as this frog, instead of working and stuff.
“At a certain time of day, my front windows have different color temperatures.”
It’s amazing how the world around us can look so different depending on the way light shines on everything. These two windows are right next to each other, and yet they’re showing very different color temperatures. That’s honestly so cool!
