When the Dancing With The Stars cast was announced, many were surprised and outraged to see former White House Press Secretary and politically divisive figure Sean Spicer among the stars. Some were particularly disappointed that Queer Eye ‘s Karamo, a known advocate for social justice, had not taken offense to the casting.
Initially, Karamo took to Twitter to clarify his feelings on the casting.

“First, I have no say who is on the cast and didn’t find out till this morning that he is on,” Karamo noted. “But I’ll tell you this…”
It was his next statement that got fans up in arms.

He wrote, “I’m excited to sit down w/ him and engage in a respectful conversations. Only way things get better is if we try to educate those who have different POV than us.”
Fans felt that Karamo was in favor of giving Spicer a platform.

The backlash against Karamo’s tweet was so intense that he later deleted his Twitter and Instagram pages to avoid the barrage.
Karamo returned to Instagram this week to shed some light on how intense this backlash actually was.
“So… some of you may know I deleted my other social media pages and took a long break from posting on ig because I been in a bad state of mind.”

“My kids/family & I were being threatened by strangers…” Karamo wrote on his Instagram . “People who I thought supported & loved me turned their backs on me… saying I was a traitor, a horrible person, delusional and treating me really bad…”
“But as I walk into my first dance rehearsal for @dancingabc No More Tears and No More Holding My Head Low!”
Karamo appears to be in good spirits and accompanied his post with a video of him jamming out to some music in his car, ostensibly on the way to rehearsals.
