Typically when we purchase a product , we get it for a specific purpose . For example, a can opener does just that. But what if there were other uses of an item you had no idea about, huh? Now, that’s interesting.
Today, I would like to share with you some cool products that serve a better purpose than what they were originally destined for, so check them out.
1. Shaving Cream

If you use shaving cream to actually shave, that’s great for you. But did you know that there’s an even better use for it? The super foamy cheap kind cleans glass shower doors better than any cleaner!
I really need to try that.
2. Ketchup

Okay, let me say this first — this is my favorite condiment. So to use it for something else would be quite wasteful to me, but if you must do it to clean the rust off any brass and gold pieces. Apparently, it works better than any other chemical cleaner.
3. Disposable Razor

Yes, of course, you can use it to shave. That’s pretty obvious. But it’s also very effective at getting rid of those annoying pills and bobbles on sweaters and other articles of clothing. Just be careful not to press too hard, or you’ll cut the garment.
4. Banana Hangers

Banana hangers are cool because they keep the fruit elevated so the ethylene gas can fall away from them, and it prolongs their shelf life. But you can also use them to hang up those headphones, haha.
5. Flathead Screwdriver

Have you actually used a flathead screwdriver for its intended purpose? No? Then you’re definitely not alone.
They’re so useful as chisels, scrapers, punches, exploratory instruments, very small crowbars… oh, the possibilities are endless!
6. Coca Cola

“Coke was made as a cure for headaches (caffeine helps) but it obviously became a massive industry of recreational drinks that also can clean corrosion off of car batteries.”
In my opinion, the latter is a much better use for it. What do you think?
7. Dishwashers

“If you’re in an Asian household, dishwashers serve as excellent drying racks, as do empty ovens,” one Reddit user said.
Ha, ha! That’s a good one. Have you done this in your household, huh? I bet it’s the same in many different cultures. Am I right?
8. Midol
“I can’t speak to better than the intended purpose because I’m a man, but Midol. It’s marketed as a menstrual relief, but it’s basically just acetaminophen and caffeine. Acetaminophen is Tylenol, and caffeine relieves cramps,” one Reddit user said.
“Great for hangovers. Not great for the liver, but neither was last night, and did that stop you?” asked another.
Ha, ha, ha, I’m dying here.
9. Tampons
Speaking of menstrual issues, here’s a little history lesson about tampons. They were invented to plug bullet wounds and bloody noses. Then, the nurses realized they could help with their “monthly visitor”. Oh my goodness, you don’t learn that every day, huh?
10. Botox

“Originally used to control crossed eyes, then to control spasming facial muscles, when it was noticed it alleviated wrinkles. Now also used as a migraine treatment,” one Reddit user said.
“Who would have thought injecting a toxin that temporarily paralyzes muscles would find such widespread usage?” asked another user.
And you can also use it to reduce excessive sweating.
11. Dryer Sheets
So I just learned this but did you know that they’re super effective for shoe and garbage can smells? I really need to see if I can put one at the bottom of our bio bin to get rid of the foul smell.
12. Hairspray

“Hairspray takes toddler ink pen doodles off my couch. While it makes my hair look just awful sometimes.”
Why is that? Well, it must be the alcohol content in it. As it turns out, rubbing alcohol also removes ink and sharpie stains. Aha!
13. Vicks VaporRub

“Congested? Vicks VaporRub. Cough? Vicks VaporRub. Headache? Vicks VaporRub. Squeaky door hinge? Vicks VaporRub. Dry skin? Vicks VaporRub. Anything stuck? Vicks VaporRub.”
Oh my goodness. That stuff works for everything, right?
14. Benadryl
“I’m not allergic to anything as far as I know, but I take them to fall asleep and it works wonders,” one Reddit user said.
“I’ve been diagnosed with insomnia before and tried prescription sleep medication like hydroxyzine and silenor. They didn’t do [expletive], but if I take a couple of Benadryl, I’m passed out in half an hour,” said another user.
15. Press And Seal Plastic Wrap

“We use it to apply numbing cream on my son’s chest at home before he gets blood drawn from his port at the oncology clinic each week.
It holds the cream in place and adheres to his skin well enough that the film doesn’t get dislodged by the seat belt on the ride to the hospital. It comes off painlessly, which is not the case for any medical films we have tried. It’s a strange little miracle in the pediatric oncology world,” one user shared.
Good to know for anyone else in this situation.
16. Binder Clips

“I use them for everything except holding documents i.e. closing chip bags, holding parking stubs or packets of headache powder on my visor in my truck,” said one user.
“Keeping cables bundled, keeping the trash bag from slipping down into the trashcan, keeping rubberbands contained so they can’t take over my junk drawer,” another user shared.
17. Rubber Gloves

“I used to clean cars at a rental company. We obviously didn’t have enough time to deeply clean every car, and sometimes people would bring their dogs.”
“We had a rubber brush for removing dog hair, but it hardly worked. Wearing a rubber glove and rubbing the hair off the seats and carpet worked wonders,” one Reddit user revealed.
18. Melon Baller

First of all, I had no idea that’s what it was called, ha, ha! Anyway, if you do have one, by all means, use it to cave out small balls out of your melon. But you can also use it to take the core out of apples and pears.
I am literally laughing so hard here about the uses of many of these items.
It’s amazing what people can come up with when they put their mind to work, huh? So tell me, have you ever used a product for something that it wasn’t intended for, huh? I’d love to know more about these hacks.
