Everyone makes mistakes , whether at home or on the job. But there are some jobs where the kinds of mistakes you could make can very well have a huge impact.
When the Reddit crowd was asked, “When you think of a profession, which one is scariest if they suddenly said… ‘Oops…?'”they gave some pretty chilling — yet accurate — answers.
“Anesthesiologist.” – odysseyshot

There are about a thousand ways a surgery can go wrong, but if the last thing you hear before going under the knife is an anesthesiologist saying “oops,” then you’re probably in for a bad time.
“Bomb Squad technician.” – wardormar28
This is one of those jobs that’s clearly not for everyone. I think it takes a pretty special person to walk up to a bomb and try to diffuse it (or use a robot to do it, or however it’s done).
“Pyrotechnician on New Year’s.” – Rattlehead1515

It’s honestly kind of surprising how fireworks are legal, when you think about it. It doesn’t take much for a fun holiday display to end up sparking a fire, which is the last thing anyone wants.
“Power plant operator.” – JustANormalBrick
In other words, if you’re anything like Homer Simpson, we have a problem. As long as you’re at least a bit more confident than he is, everything should be just fine. Probably.
“Structural engineer.” – WinstonChurchillin
There are tons of codes and stuff to make sure structures don’t come toppling down for no reason, but that doesn’t mean every structural engineer is perfect. Let’s just hope that most of them are, though.
“Air traffic controllers.” – Pudgy_Walsh

“An ATC has more lives in his hands in one shift than a surgeon does in his career.”
And yet, they say airplanes are the safest way to travel… talk about a high-pressure job.
“Tattoo Artist.” – Remote-Working-7608
Tattoos are more or less permanent, so you really don’t want your artist to mess up. The worst part would probably be the fact that your tattoo-hating relatives would never let you live it down.
“Astronaut.” – ghosts-go-boo

In space, no one can hear you scream… so it’s especially important you don’t mess up on the job. Help would be way too far away to swing by to rescue you in time.
“Tax preparers.” – MadHaberdascher

One miscalculation, one misplaced decimal, or even one misspelled company name could end up making it look like you owe way more than you really do. That, or it’d make you think you get to keep all this money, only to have to pay it back months later.
“The doctor delivering your baby.” – mistercolebert

Childbirth is terrifying enough without the doctors, nurses, or anyone else making a mistake mid-delivery. There’s always more than one life at stake during those high-pressure moments, after all…
“Barber.” – Constant-Literature5

Realistically, we put a lot of faith into the people who hold razors and scissors so close to our heads. Too much, in fact. Sure, you don’t always end up with hair that’s too short, or an uneven fade, but you never know when you might.
“Main Grid Electricians.” – -GalacticTurtle-

We’ve come to rely on electricity for pretty much everything these days. Unless you live off the grid, you’d better hope that the electrical workers don’t make any mistakes while they’re doing work on your power lines.
“Lumberjack.” – Rofl_Waffler

A lumberjack’s job may not directly impact you, but being around someone who uses axes and chainsaws all day still doesn’t seem like the safest idea. Even professionals can make mistakes every now and again.
“Rigger!” – MechReck
“Lifting 10’s or 100’s of tons overhead with specific lift plans, safety factor, etc..”
This is the exact kind of job that needs stringent safety regulations. But even the best regulations can’t stop an “oops” moment…
“Plastic surgeon.” – Night_0dot0_Owl
Plastic surgery can be super risky. After all, it’s still surgery, and depending on what you’re getting done, there’s a chance you won’t make it off the table.
More commonly, though, you could end up looking worse than before, which is just a shame.
“Dentists.” – TomTheWaterChamp
“I already hate the dentist, having your mouth open laying back on a table and having someone digging around with metal power tools already makes me feel vulnerable. An ‘oops’ would send me into a spiral.”
The dentist isn’t that bad. As long as they’re good at their job.
“Mortician/cask bearer.” – pieremaan

Uh, yeah. The absolute last thing you need while a room full of loved ones mourn someone they just lost, is the casket falling, or the corpse to not look as nicely preserved as anyone would expect…
“An embalmer/ taxidermist.” – prince_cookie
Just like with human bodies, you kind of have to be careful when preserving animals. Or else, you’ll just end up with some kind of abomination that people will take one look at, and run away in terror.
“Bungee jump trainer.” – moodswingclub
“A couple of years ago on holiday a bungee jump trainer/employee hooked me up then said ‘Oh… Oops’ right before pushing me off the edge. I later found out he does this often to get people even more mortified than they probably already were.”
Nope.
“Criminal defence lawyer.” – Unfair_Requirement40
Attorneys literally have someone else’s life in their hands. You could be responsible for letting an innocent person face time, or a guilty person run free. Better review all the evidence and make sure you know what you’re doing…
