Having one of the most famous musicians as a father must be an incredibly unique childhood experience. You might expect that any child raised by a rich celebrity would be spoiled, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Michael Jackson’s children, at least according to his 22-year-old daughter, Paris, who’s opened up about how she and her siblings were brought up.
Paris Jackson has revealed that Michael was definitely not raising his children to be spoiled or entitled.
Paris opened up about her childhood in a new interview , saying: “My dad was really good about making sure we were cultured, making sure we were educated, and not just showing us like the glitz and glam, like hotel hopping, five-star places.”
“It was also like, we saw everything,” Paris continued.
“We saw third world countries. We saw every part of the spectrum.”
“I’m also a full believer that I should earn everything,” Paris said of her own work ethic. “I go to auditions, I work hard, I study scripts, I do my thing.”
“Even growing up it was about earning stuff,” she added.
“If we wanted five toys from FAO Schwarz or Toys “R” Us, we had to read five books. It’s earning it, not just being entitled to certain things or thinking, ‘oh, I got this,'” Paris explained.
“It’s like working for it, working hard for it, it’s, it’s something else entirely.”
“It’s an accomplishment.”
We couldn’t agree more! There’s nothing like earning your own rewards for your own hard work, and it’s awesome when celebrity parents understand that for their kids!
