Losing a parent is one of the toughest things that any of us can go through, but one way to help with the grief and loss can be through looking at old pictures or videos we have of our loved ones. For children of famous actors and actresses, they have entire films to watch to remember their loved ones.
Micheál Richardson, son of late actress Natasha Richardson and actor Liam Neeson, has opened up about this experience.

Natasha Richardson was a beloved actress.
Natasha was known for her work in films like The Parent Trap, Wild Child , and Maid In Manhattan.
However, Natasha was also a beloved wife and mother to actor Liam Neeson and their two sons.
Natasha passed away in 2009 following a skiing accident.
Natasha was only 45 at the time of the accident.
Her son Micheál was only 14, but has opened up in a new interview about how he’s processed the tragic death of his mother over a decade later.
“It was so sudden,” Richardson said.
“When it’s unexpected and it’s just a complete freak accident, it really sort of messes with your mind, whether you believe in fate or not,” he said .
Richardson explained that he treasured the memories he did have.
“It can send you for a bit of a head spin, and so you just latch on to the tiny little memories, whether it’s her laugh or her energy in the room or her cooking.”
“I do have her films to go back and watch her in, which I’m incredibly grateful for,” he said.
Richardson had previously said The Parent Trap was his favorite film his mom had ever made “because I just see her so much as that person.”
Richardson said he felt lucky to be able to watch his mother’s films.
“I’m so lucky too, because she’s passed away, I can still watch her and see how she worked and also it’s a great thing to have,” he said.
“When you lose somebody so close to you, sometimes you just push it away and out of your head because the thought of them hurts,” Richardson added.
“But I found that’s an unhealthy thing to do. You have to remember them.”
We couldn’t agree more, and we’re so glad that Micheál has these films to remember his mother by!
Richardson and his dad, actor Liam Neeson, are starring in a movie together that deals with a very personal subject.
The film, Made In Italy follows the two stars as father and son who reunite after being estranged following the death of the family matriarch, which is obviously a personal subject for the family.
It’s wonderful that the family has film to bring them together in so many different ways!
Whether it’s sharing stories that connect to their own lives or simply honoring Natasha’s memory through watching her films, it definitely shows the power of movies!
