While I might make a big deal out of my ever-growing wishlist in life of all the various purchases and treasures I want to either buy myself or have bestowed upon me, the only real thing that we can all wish for is to live a long life and be celebrated for what we achieved after we’re gone.
Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas definitely achieved that.
Kirk Douglas was a Hollywood legend.
Kirk began his career on Broadway, but transitioned to film in the late ’40s, where he earned acclaim for his roles in Champion, Spartacus, Along The Great Divide , and many more.
He was truly one of the last titans of that era in Hollywood!
In February of this year, Kirk passed away at the incredible age of 103.

Kirk’s son, actor Michael Douglas, shared the news on Instagram, writing , “It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103.”
Kirk’s daughter-in-law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, shared a moving tribute to him on December 9th, what would have been his 104th birthday.

“Missing you every day. Happy birthday Pappy,” Catherine shared alongside this gorgeous black and white shot of her sharing a kiss with her father-in-law.
Michael Douglas shared a video tribute as well.
“Happy Birthday Dad! I miss you and thank you for always giving the best advice! Love, Michael,” the post was captioned.

“What’s the best advice your father ever gave you?” Michael asks in the video, as images of himself with his father pass by. “The best advice my father gave me is whatever you do, you do it to the best of your ability.”
Kirk’s advice continued.

“You leave that job knowing that you couldn’t have done anymore, and then screw it,” Michael says.
We love that philosophy, and it clearly served both Kirk and Michael well over the years!
Kirk’s advice ended on a simple note.
“Walk away – you’ve done the best. Don’t look back,” Michael finished.
What a wonderful way of looking at life — as long as you do your best, you can’t possibly have done any better, so there’s no point stressing out.
You can watch the video for yourself right here.
It’s incredibly sweet — and you might want to have your tissues nearby.
What an incredible tribute to such an incredible man and father!
We’re thinking of Kirk’s loved ones at this difficult time.
