Being a parent is one of the most amazing blessings life has to offer. A baby’s birth certificate is an important document that celebrates the important milestone. So when fans found out that Meghan Markle’s name was removed from her son Archie’s birth certificate, they were shocked, to say the least.
Now, Meghan’s rep is clearing up the rumors and letting the people know what is going on.
This past weekend, the story of Meghan Markle’s name on son Archie’s birth certificate went viral.
As fans will recall, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6, 2019.
U.K. tabloid The Sun claimed that the Duchess of Sussex removed her first names, “Rachel Meghan,” off of her son’s birth papers and left it as “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex” on June 5, 2019.
The publication went on to speculate that Meghan had done this as a snub to her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

The Sun called the “unprecedented move” a “snub” to Kate, who used her name on the birth certificates of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Now, Meghan’s rep is shutting down the rumors is a new statement to *Us Weekly.*

“The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials,” Meghan’s rep clarified .
That wasn’t all.
The statement went on to say that the press’ suggestion that the change was “a calculated family ‘snub’” or that Meghan “would oddly want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document, would be laughable were it not offensive.”
Now, some people are speculating it was a grammatical error that needed to be fixed.

The Sun originally published a photograph of the amended birth papers, showing that Meghan and Prince Harry’s names were both altered on the birth certificate.
Originally, “Rachel Meghan” came before “Her Royal Highness Duchess of Sussex,” but was removed on the amended certificate in June.
At first, Harry’s name read “His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex” but on the second certificate, the word “Prince” was added before his first name.
In an article published by *Vanity Fair,* they clarified some of these miscommunications.
“The omission of ‘Prince’ from Harry’s title would seem to be more urgent, as it is a part of his legal name,” the publication writes .
“‘Rachel Meghan’ isn’t a part of her official title, and Debrett’s etiquette guide says she should be addressed as “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.”
This would mean it was more of a grammatical error, and not a statement that was being made.
As fans know, Harry agreed to stop using the pair’s HRH titles when they left the royal family as senior members last year.

Ms. Markle now goes by “Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex,” but that had not been decided back in June 2019.
This type of malicious reporting about the Duchess of Sussex is nothing new.

To claim the change on Archie’s birth certificate was a “dig” at Kate Middleton shows U.K. tabloids have not changed their tune toward Meghan.
Needless to say, this change has sparked a lot of debate and conversation online.
However, I’m glad Meghan was able to clear up the situation and that the rumor of the snub was put to rest.
