Darn you, Gubler!
As if fans weren’t emotional enough over Criminal Minds ending, he had to go and make us bawl some more over this photo he shared.
Caution: some spoilers ahead!
In case you missed it, “Criminal Minds” has come to an end after 15 dramatic seasons.
The popular crime drama followed members of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), as they hunted down the nation’s most dangerous criminals.
Like a funeral service, we have gathered a bunch of fan reactions to the show ending, and they are probably as sad as you would expect them to be.
People were really mourning the loss of their favorite show.
Most people became hysterical, like this Twitter user, who shared her reaction after the elevator doors closed.
Hysterical is a bit of an understatement, but it definitely makes for a good meme.
Even a whole bunch of “Criminal Minds” fan pages paid tribute to the fallen show.
Like Criminal Minds Hub, which had some white text over a black and white photo.
One character fans seemed particularly attached to from day one is Spencer Reid.
Played by the always amazing Matthew Gray Gubler.
Fans, apparently, are going to miss him the most out of the cast.
And why not?
He’s one of the best characters, even in a show with such an amazing cast.
Seriously, they have had a whole lot of people on the famed Criminal Minds .
During the show’s run, there were *numerous* celebrity guest-stars, both before and after becoming famous.

This included Jennifer Love-Hewitt, James Van Der Beek, Aubrey Plaza, and Mark Hamill.
The two-hour season finale, which aired on Wednesday, February 19, took many dramatic turns.

The BAU was able to capture Everett Lynch, also known as “The Chameleon,” but also dealt with losing a member of their team.
It even had flashbacks to previous seasons, giving fans the chance to see familiar faces from over the years.
“We wanted to write this finale as fans of the show and also as a thank you to all the fans who had been watching,” Erica Messer, showrunner and executive producer, said to Entertainment Tonight .
“And so, the most important thing was to get our tone right, to not go completely off-book and do something that doesn’t feel like the 325 hours of TV that people had been watching.”
“In doing that, we really wanted to explore how far we’ve all come in the last 15 seasons.”
With emotions already high, Matthew Gray Gubler (who played Spencer Reid) had to go and bring on all the ~feels~ with a photo.
Gubler was one of the show’s original cast members.
“i’ve carried these 3 props with me almost every day for the last 15 years,” he shared on Twitter ahead of the show’s finale, along with this emotional photo.

“After tonight i’ll just carry them in my heart where i will forever keep memories of the best crew, the best cast, and the best fands (fans/friends) a fictional crimefighter could ever have.”
Fans were understandably emotional from Matthew’s post.
“And spencer reid will always be in our hearts. i love you my friend. thank you so much for all these years and for giving your heart for this amazing character,” one wrote.
The love for Gubler (and Spencer) has been off-the-charts.
“Thank you for being the best spencer reid we ever could have asked for,” another wrote in response to Matthew’s post.
Some even wanted Matthew to steal the items in the picture.
15 years of playing the character should warrant him the gun, no?
Before the series finale, Gubler spoke to “TVLine” about what the last fifteen years have meant to him.

“It’s so surreal, I can’t quite explain it. With the show coming to an end now, I’m sort of like being inundated by friends sending me funny pictures of ‘the old days,'” he began .
“I’m the type of person who, for lack of a better term, likes making stuff so much that I never really take time to celebrate the end product, if that makes any sense.”

He continued:
“Now that the show is over, I can watch it and enjoy it, and kind of see it from a new perspective. It’s so funny to see those old episodes because they really honestly feel like we shot them last week, but then I look at how different we are, and how extra-ridiculous my hair might be.”
But overall, fans were feeling emotional over saying goodbye to Spencer.
“I will carry in my heart that boy who, from being shy and clumsy, has become increasingly self-confident. That guy with a brilliant mind that has made people all over the world fall in love, Dr Spencer Reid,” another fan shared.
The actor also shared what he’ll miss most about the show.

“I’ll miss the people, of course. I’ll miss the crew, and the cast, and everybody, but luckily I talk to them — probably more now that the show is over,” he shared.
“I’ll also miss being on the jet. The jet was always this magical place, a small set where we all just kind of felt like we were at a sleepover and telling stories.”
“Every day felt like a family reunion holiday, and I’m so happy I got to do that for so many years.”
Andddd, excuse us while we go bawl.
