The newest entry in The Conjuring franchise, Annabelle Comes Home was released on June 26th, and while audiences around the world were waiting to be scared, creeped out, and horrified.
One audience in Thailand got more of that than they were likely prepared for.
‘Annabelle Comes Home’ is the seventh installment in ‘The Conjuring’ series.

The film currently has a 66% on Rotten Tomatoes, with mostly positive reviews. The film centers on the demonologist family from the earlier films determined to keep Annabelle from causing more destruction by locking her away in their home.
An audience in Thailand expected to be scared during the film, but for many, the biggest fright came afterwards.
A 77 year old man named Bernard Channing was vacationing in Thailand when he decided to head to the theater to catch a screening of Annabelle Comes Home.
After the screening, audience members discovered that Channing had passed away during the film.

It’s not clear when Channing passed away. After he was discovered, emergency services were called, who pronounced Channing dead while inside the theater.
An autopsy has yet to be performed.

According to The Sun , a post-mortem examination will be completed to determine the exact cause of death, and at the moment no foul play is suspected.
This is the second death to be associated with ‘The Conjuring’ series.

In 2016, a 65 year old man in India suffered a heart attack during a screening of The Conjuring 2 . During the transfer of the cadaver, however, the body reportedly went missing.
The audience members in Thailand were understandably shaken.

According to The Sun , a local woman who arrived at the cinema after the death said, “‘There were some people at the entrance talking with staff. They were in the cinema where the man died and they were very upset.”
“They were shocked by what happened.”

”The cinema staff were very concerned and they tried to prevent anybody from seeing what was happening. We were prohibited from taking pictures,” the woman continued.
The police have released a statement.

“From the preliminary investigation it was not known how the foreign man had died but doctors will conduct an autopsy to establish the true cause of death,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Polpattham Thammachat said .
”We are not looking for anybody else connected to the death. We do not believe there was suspicious foul play.
