One sad realization we can often come to in stories of relationship drama is that a lot more people than we might have expected don’t seem to recognize their worth.
After all, it’s easy to understand how we can feel justified in actions that turn out to be despicable once we take a step back, but it’s just as concerning when we see the opposite scenario.
By that, I mean that there are a wide variety of stories in which one partner worried about whether they were in the wrong for reacting angrily to what should seem like obviously heinous behavior .
And as is often the case in these situations, one story we’re about to go over made onlookers so baffled at the idea that its narrator could even consider accepting blame for what happened that they figure it can’t be real.
But it didn’t sound so impossible for others…
After spending three years with her husband, the woman we’re about to hear from is expecting her first baby.

Naturally, this meant that her friends and family threw her a baby shower and brought a trove of gifts that largely consisted of essentials for the coming child.
As she explained in a Reddit post , some of the items were pacifiers, books, pajamas, and diaper packs, but others cost between $50 and $100.
For all of these reasons and more, she was stunned to wake up the next day and discover that all of these gifts are gone.

And it wasn’t until her husband came home with cash in hand that she discovered why.
Apparently, he and his friends were supposed to go on a trip the following week, but one of these friends needed money to fix his van. And if the husband didn’t contribute to this, he wasn’t allowed to go.
Somehow, this led him to conclude that it was perfectly fine to sell all the baby shower gifts without any warning or notice.
And when the woman yelled at him and said they needed those items for the baby, he dismissed her and said they already had enough.

This led the woman to tell everyone she knew what he did, which clearly made them as shocked as she was since they started sending him angry messages too.
This, in turn, made him angry and he’s now saying that she overreacted and was being immature by exposing him.
As the woman said, “He said that is his baby too and he is entitled to half those gifts. He believes I told them a sob story and ruined his reputation.”
But when the woman asked if she was indeed in the wrong, commenters found the idea of her even entertaining that possibility so hard to believe that some were convinced she made the story up.

However, others have countered this assumption by saying that if the story is true, it likely comes after a long and worrying period of manipulation on the husband’s part.
As one user said , “HE stole from HIS own baby because he feels HIS own WANTs are more important than his child needs.”
In the words of another, “Is this really who you want to be married to, and raise this child with? Someone who puts his buddies as a higher priority than his own child?”
