A bride was ghosted by her maid of honor just 10 days before her wedding, only to find her posting something shocking online a few days later.
One bridesmaid detailed the issue
In a post on Reddit’s ‘Wedding Drama’ forum, a bridesmaid detailed the conflict between a bride and her maid of honor.
She began by saying that everything ‘was going pretty smoothly’ until the maid of honor ‘ghosted’ the bride just 10 days before her wedding.
The maid of honor ‘suddenly’ disappeared
The bridesmaid explained that the maid of honor ‘suddenly stopped responding to messages in the group chat’ even though there were no falling outs within the bridal party.
The bride had asked her ‘to confirm her speech and arrival time for the rehearsal dinner — nothing crazy or last-minute.’
But she was not responding
“No response. No call. No email,” the bridesmaid relayed. “Her read receipts were on, so we know she saw the messages.”
This lack of response from the maid of honor caused the bride to start ‘freaking out’, especially since the maid of honor had her wedding veil, and there was no backup.
They thought she must’ve run into something

The bridesmaid went on to say that the bridal party assumed the maid of honor ran into some issue that was causing her to ‘just disappear’ on them.
“We all thought maybe there was an emergency or something serious going on, so we gave her space,” the bridesmaid wrote.
But then she posted something online
The bridal party were shocked to then see the maid of honor posting something on Instagram.
“She’s at a cabin in the mountains. Yoga pose. ‘Disconnecting from drama and reconnecting with myself’ that was the caption,” the bridesmaid wrote.
They tried to check on her
The bridesmaid added, “A few of us commented like, ‘Hey… are you okay??’ and she DELETED the comments.”
What made things worse was that she was at the cabin with the man she ‘swore she broke up with months ago’ and who had disrespected the bride by causing ‘a huge scene’ at her engagement party.
The behavior was unfathomable to those involved
“I’m also just baffled at how someone could ghost their best friend’s wedding a week before and then flex about it like it’s some self-care moment,” the bridesmaid wrote.
She added that no one in the party has heard from the maid of honor since and that ‘she hasn’t even returned the veil.’
Redditors took to her comment section for advice
Many Reddit users took to the bridesmaid’s comments to agree that the situation was shocking, with some suggesting that the bride ‘pursue legal action’ over the veil.
“That’s someone else’s property. They could get a police escort to retrieve it,” wrote one user. Another agreed, “Especially with how expensive they can be. Plus, getting another one on short notice isn’t exactly easy.”
The bridal party plan on cutting ties
The bridesmaid replied to one of the comments that suggested taking legal action regarding the veil, writing, “The veil belongs to the bride, and she absolutely has the right to get it back.”
“Once that’s sorted, going no contact seems like the healthiest move for everyone involved,” she concluded.
