American host Jimmy Kimmel pointed out the one thing US President Donald Trump keeps talking about every time the topic of Charlie Kirk’s tragic killing comes up.
Trump recently shared where he was
In a recent TV appearance, Trump told Fox News where he was when he heard that Charlie Kirk had been killed.
He told the outlet that he was ‘in the midst’ of building the new White House ballroom when he learnt the news.
He was with the architects
Trump recalled, “When I heard, I was in the midst of building a great — for 150 years, they’ve wanted a ballroom at the White House, right? They don’t have a ballroom.”
“They have to use tents on the lawn for [events for Chinese] President Xi when he comes over, if it rains, it’s a wipeout. And so, I was with the architects that were designing — it’s gonna be incredible.”
Trump didn’t understand the news at first
The president went on, “And they came in. They said, ‘Charlie Kirk is dead.’ I didn’t know what they meant. I said, ‘What do you mean dead?’ ‘Charlie Kirk was shot.’ And they thought he was dead because it was so horrific, you know. And I said, ‘Dead.’”
He kept bringing up the White House ballroom
It seems that the president has gone on tangents about the new White House ballroom in the same breath as talking about Charlie Kirk’s murder more than once.
In the Monday, September 15, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, TV host Jimmy Kimmel pointed this out.
Trump had been asked about it by reporters
“On a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this,” Kimmel said, before a different clip of Trump being interviewed by a reporter played.
The reporter asked, “My condolences on the loss of your friend, Charlie Kirk. May I ask sir, personally, how are you holding up?”
He once again gave an update about the ballroom
“I think very good,” Trump responded, before once again talking about the White House ballroom.
“And by the way, right here, you see all the trucks. They’ve started construction of the new ballroom for the White House,” Trump added.
Kimmel joked about the ordeal
“He’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction,” the TV host jokingly commented.
“This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend,” he went on, “This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish.”
Kimmel isn’t on board with the ballroom
The TV host went on to question, “Who thinks like that?” adding, “And why are we building a $200 million ballroom in the White House?”
“Is it possible that he’s doing it intentionally so we can be mad about that instead of the Epstein List?” he said, which brought laughter from his audience.
