On October 1st, 2017, 61 people tragically lost their lives after a mass shooting occurred at the route 91 Harvest Festival, making it the deadliest mass shooting committed by an individual in the history of the United States .
Festival performer Jason Aldean has commemorated the tragedy with an emotional tribute on his Instagram page on the third anniversary of the shooting.
Jason Aldean, a country musician best known for his hits “She’s Country” and “Big Green Tractor” among others, was performing at the time of the shooting.

Jason was giving the closing performance of the night when the shooting occurred, and luckily he and his band were able to exit the stage unharmed.
Jason commemorated the third anniversary of the attack with a tribute on his Instagram.
“Hard to believe it’s been 3 years since Route 91,” he wrote.

“That night was probably the worst night of our lives and not a day goes by that we don’t think about the people who lost their lives and the families who have forever been affected by it,” Jason continued.
“October 1st will always be a day for us that is extremely hard to relive,” he added.

“To everyone in the Route 91 family, we love u guys and we couldn’t have gotten through it without you. #CountryStrong #Route91family #VegasStrong,” he concluded alongside a shot of a vigil created for the victims of the shooting.
Jason’s fans took to the comments section to thank him for his message.
“You didn’t ask for it, but you were thrust into this leader type role for all the survivors and families of that tragic night,” one fan responded.

“You have handled it like a true gentleman and pillar of strength even though you and your wife and whole touring family were going through your own struggles. Thank you for being such a huge part of the healing!” they continued.
