Comedy can be really subjective, especially when it comes to making fun of a specific target. It takes a lot of nerve to go on a show like America’s Got Talent and aim your jokes at one of the judges, which is exactly what comedian Usama Siddiquee did on a recent episode of the show.
Heidi has now spoken out about how the jokes made her feel.
The joke in question revolved around the idea that a DJ can get away with saying things most people can’t because they’ve got a good beat behind them.
“Heidi, if I called you a tramp, you’d be like, ‘How dare you!’ Right?” Usama began, “but if I was like, ‘Tramp. Tramp. Tramp. Tramp,’ you’d be like, ‘Well, I do get loose on occasion,'” he joked, saying the word in a rhythmic style.
Heidi did not seem too pleased during the episode.
“Being called a tramp was my least comfortable part of the whole thing,” Heidi joked afterwards, however, but added, “But that’s just me. Let’s see what America thinks.”
Both Heidi and Usama have spoken about the joke to Entertainment Tonight .
“It wasn’t calling her a tramp at all. It was talking about how lyrics are not looked at when there’s a beat behind it,” Usama said.
“So the joke I’m not apologizing for, I love the joke. I love what I did, I had a great time,” he continued, adding, “All love to Heidi, all love to all the judges.”
Heidi had a different opinion.
Despite calling Usama “a very good comedian,” Heidi explained she did not find the joke funny.
“I just didn’t love his material so much today. It was just not for me. It’s hard to be a comedian now, to know what can you joke about still, but I don’t know, to me, it was not so funny,” she said.
