Not only do working moms financially help to support their family, but their careers could also inspire their daughters.
Researchers have discovered a positive relationship between girls who grow up with a working mom. A new study suggests that by working, moms influence their daughter’s careers and potential incomes.
For a long time, researchers have theorized about how working moms’ careers impact their kids.
Now, a new study published in the journal Work, Employment and Society have uncovered some of the positive benefits working moms have on their children, especially their daughters.
The study examined 100,000 working parents across 29 countries.
Surprisingly, researchers discovered that girls who have working moms are more likely to be employed and have higher incomes than girls whose moms do not work.
The study also found that girls with working moms tend to hold more supervisor positions and have higher salaries.
These girls tend to go on to work longer hours and have more job responsibilities, according to the study.
Let’s not forget about the boys, though.
While working moms don’t have the same impact on their son’s careers or incomes, the study said these boys tend to spend more time caring for family members. Interesting!
