Now before you leave this article scoffing at the idea of yet another classic comedy series getting a reboot, please just hear me out. Maybe, just maybe, this Frasier one won’t be as bad as the other revivals.
Why do I say this? What authority do I have to make such a claim? Truly nothing, but at least Kelsey Grammer is actually on board, which already means the reboot is already off to a better start than most.
I think we all can agree the ’90s were an amazing time. Heck, there’s a reason people keep trying to bring it back!
The music, the fashion, the total lack of social media — it was all so wonderful! There was a magic about the ’90s that cannot be duplicated, no matter how hard these TV execs try, and oh boy, do they try .
Take the *Sex and the City* revival for example.
Fans were so excited about this fabulous foursome coming to our screens again, only to find out that Kim Cattrall’s Samantha would not be returning! That’s like The Beatles without Paul McCartney — it just doesn’t work!
Now, *Frasier* is the latest ’90s sitcom to make its seemingly inevitable return.
But hey, at least we got the main guy, Kelsey Grammer, so already we’re off to a good start!
It was announced on Wednesday that the series will be produced by CBS Studios in association with Grammnet Productions, exclusively for Paramount’s rebranded streaming service, Paramount Plus.
Speaking about the announcement, Kelsey said:
“Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world.”
He added : “I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane.”
“*Frasier* is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,” said David Stapf, president of CBS Studios.
“There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris, and Kelsey. We can’t wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount +.”
