It’s always tough to replace someone who was so iconic at their job. Whether you’re moving up to fill a beloved manager’s shoes, taking over for a very talented team leader, or you’re a celebrity filling in for a universally adored game show host who passed away, you know as soon as you step up to the plate that the pressure is on . Many fans felt that Katie Couric more than delivered after her first night as the guest host on Jeopardy!
*Jeopardy* was previously hosted by Alex Trebek for a whopping 37 seasons.

Not only was Alex fantastic at the hosting job, which he held from 1984 until his passing in 2020, but he was also just an all-around amazing person who really felt like part of the audience’s family when they tuned in to watch him every night. Obviously, filling his shoes is going to be tough .
In the interim between his passing and naming a sucessor, *Jeopardy!* has been having various guest hosts fill in for Alex.
The first guest host to take up the mantle was Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings, who had the gig for six weeks. Following that, Jeopardy! ‘s executive producer Mike Richards took over the role.
On Monday, Katie Couric began her two-week guest hosting stint on the show.
Katie’s first episode aired on International Women’s Day, and Katie was the first ever woman to ever host the show!

Following Katie will be Dr. Mehmet Oz, Aaron Rodgers, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, Mayim Bialik, and others who have already signed on for the job.
However, some fans are pretty convinced that the search for the next host can stop, because the job should be Katie’s!
Katie’s first night was extremely well-received!
Some fans began expressing the desire to see Katie take over the role full-time!
“She was perfect. Best guest host yet. And I’ve been watching since Art Fleming,” one fan shared on Twitter about Katie’s first night.
Many fans were also happy to see a woman behind that iconic podium!
“Katie Couric did a great job as the #Jeopardy – it was awesome seeing a woman host,” one fan shared .
“I am really digging Katie Couric as the guest host of @Jeopardy! Great job!” another wrote.
