A psychologist has taken to YouTube to share the three personality traits that can be found in psychopaths but are often overlooked.
She knows about human behavior

Abigail Marsh, a Professor of Psychology at Georgetown University, knows enough about human behavior to be able to tell the signs that someone is a psychopath.
She shared the information in a YouTube video posted on the Big Think channel.
She shared it in case people need the knowledge

Marsh explained the three personality traits that might be exhibited by psychopaths and are often overlooked.
She said, “There are certain things I look for that suggest to me that the person is genuinely psychopathic that I think could be useful for people to know.”
The first trait is being antisocial
Of course, being antisocial doesn’t necessarily mean someone’s a psychopath, some of us are just introverts.
But Marsh claims that exhibiting antisocial tendencies could be a sign that someone may be a psychopath.
She explained what this could mean

“The first one is that they tend to be antisocial across a whole range of domains,” the expert explained.
“They’ve cheated on romantic partners, they’ve cheated in professional settings, or maybe in school, or in a sports setting. It’s not just one thing or one domain.”
They can often also think they’re better than others

The psychologist said that the second personality trait that may point towards someone being psychopathic is that they think they’re better than everyone else.
An example of this is if they never admit to being in the wrong.
She explained this sign

“They tend to show signs they are better than other people, they tend to believe that problems in the world are always other people’s faults,” Marsh said.
“Other people are dumb, other people are ignorant, other people are easily duped,” she added.
They also think people are the same as them

Marsh added that the final tell-tale sign would be if someone thinks everyone is the same as them. Every person is different, but not for psychopaths.
“Finally, believing that everybody else is just like them underneath,” she said.
It’s a sign that they’re selfish
“So, if somebody seems to believe that everybody is actually fundamentally selfish, they think that’s true in general – but what they’re really telling you is what they’re like,” the psychologist said of the final sign.
