Having a baby is a very exciting time in a couple’s lives. There are tons of milestones that come with pregnancy and having a baby , welcoming a newborn into the family. One of the biggest milestones for some couples is finding out the gender of their baby.
Not all couples find out the s*x/gender before birth. But, for some, it’s important . Finding out the gender, for some couples, is crucial because they want to plan and prep the nursery, buy specific things for their baby and even pick out a name.
Over the years, finding out the baby’s s*x has become a huge deal.

For years, many couples have made an entire party out of finding out the s*x and gender of their baby. “Gender reveal” parties have become a cultural norm, where people create elaborate ways to reveal the gender of their baby for themselves and their family members.
There are tons of ways that couples reveal their baby’s gender.

One way that couples reveal the gender of their baby is by using a cake—cutting into it to see if the inside is blue or pink. Another way is by using party poppers that usually let out a puff of blue or pink smoke. Others also use balloons, allowing them to pop out of a box and float away. There are dozens of ways to “reveal” the baby’s s*x.
While gender reveals are pretty common today, they are also controversial.

Gender reveal parties have stirred up a ton of controversy over the years. In Los Angeles, a series of widespread wildfires that destroyed people’s homes actually stemmed from a gender reveal party. The couple actually ended up facing charges due to the destruction and danger they caused.
There are also those who think that “gender” revealing is wrong.

Many also argue that celebrating a child’s gender is wrong and weird altogether and that it has to stop . For many, using blue and pink colors further gender stereotyping, where girls can “only like pink” and boys can “only like blue.”
Others feel as though gender should not be “forced.”

There are also those who feel as though gender is something that should be chosen by a child and not something that is determined in the womb. Therefore, celebrating the “assigned s*x” of a child is archaic and really forceful.
And, then, there are those who just think they are “pointless” altogether.

Aside from the controversy and the distaste for gender reveal parties for their principles and beliefs, some people think that they are straight up pointless and a waste of time and money. Many argue that it’s just another “cost” to associate with having a baby and, we all know, throwing a party ain’t cheap!
However, there are also those who love it.

Some people actually love gender reveal parties because it gives couples and their families a chance to come together and celebrate the beauty of bringing life into the world. Many gender reveals are shared with close, immediate family and friends, and it can be a joyous celebration.
Despite how you may feel about the gender reveal party craze, there is one that is sweeping us off of our feet.

If you are a huge Harry Potter nerd like we are, you’d know that there are some things that are just perfectly fitting into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter . Recently, one couple had a gender reveal that was shared on Facebook that incorporated our favorite series and their baby’s gender all in one.
In ‘Harry Potter’, the one reveal we all know to be true is the Sorting Hat.

The only reveal any Harry Potter fan usually cares about is the Sorting Hat. Knowing which Hogwarts house you belong to is the key to being part of Harry Potter and their world. However, the couple wasn’t finding out which Hogwarts House their baby belonged to, but instead, their baby’s gender .
Using their house as a backdrop, the gender reveal pulled out all of the stops.

Much like a Christmas lights show, the gender reveal used their house as a backdrop and had an elaborate and incredible Harry Potter theme show—complete with the Sorting Hat reading out the houses. Then, there was a countdown to showcase that giant puff of smoke in the sky that revealed—it’s a girl!
We can’t help but love this.
