Dolly Parton is one of the most successful songwriters of all time. Can you imagine music without iconic hits like “Jolene”, “I Will Always Love You”, “Coat of Many Colors” and “9 to 5”? I don’t even want to think about it!
Now, Dolly is preserving an all-new, original song that has been placed in a TIME CAPSULE!
As a history nerd, whenever I think of time capsules, I immediately get an excitement quiver throughout my entire body.
The idea of having physical pieces of human history is the COOLEST thing to me.
Of course, I don’t know what I would put in a time capsule for future generations to discover. Sweatpants? An iPhone? IS THIS WHAT THE KIDS OF TOMORROW WILL REMEMBER US FOR?!
Thankfully, it seems Dolly has this *all* figured out for us.

In her new book “Songteller: My Life in Lyrics” Dolly revealed she has locked away an original recording in a time capsule, that is set to be opened in 2045, according to Radio.com .
The capsule is buried at the Dollywood DreamMore resort, which she opened back in 2015.
Dolly explained how her marketing team the idea to her, saying: “It would be a song that will never be heard until 30 years from the time we opened the resort.”
“They said, ‘You’ll be long dead.’ I said, ‘Well, maybe not. I’ll be 99. I’ve seen people live to be older than that.’”
Included in the time capsule is a CD player to actually play the song. How thoughtful!

The songstress then admitted it’s been hard not to talk about the song.
“That’s like burying one of my kids, putting it on ice or something, and I won’t be around to see it brought back to life. It’s just burning me up inside that I have to leave it in there.”
“Anyway, it’s kind of weird or strange that they would ask me to write this mystery song. I don’t know if I want to live to be 100 or not. But you never know. I might, and if I do, I’m going to be at that opening.”
Although it sounds like it’s so far away, 2045 is in only 24 years! How crazy is that?!
