The television world is one that’s always changing. Your favorite show might get cancelled, a show from the ’90s might get a reboot, and a beloved fan favorite character might get recast with a new actor, and that’s all part of show business.
Fans were still shocked to hear that Dancing With The Stars was letting go of its longtime host, Tom Bergeron.

It appeared that Tom himself may have also been shocked, as his tweet reading”Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me. It’s been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made,” seemed to imply he was not aware of the decision beforehand and it was not his choice.
Derek Hough, one of the most famous dancers from the show, has now spoken out about Tom’s firing.
“I was pretty shocked. I think Tom Bergeron is such a staple of Dancing with the Stars , and he’s a good friend of mine. He’s a good man. He’s been there from the beginning, and you know he’s just a great guy,” Derek said in a new interview .
Derek added that it was “understandable” as far as the show went.
“Nothing is certain,” Derek said of show business, adding “You know, there’s always efforts to sort of switch things up, and you look at that, and it’s also understandable.”
Derek was also asked about how he felt about Tyra Banks replacing Tom.
“I feel optimistic. I think she’ll do fantastic,” Derek responded.
“For me, I’m always sort of a cheerleader for the show to succeed … especially for shows I’ve been a part of. I want Dancing with the Stars to succeed and do well, and I hope it does.”
