Demi’s recent appearance on The Ellen Show brought to light the struggles she went through shortly before her 2018 relapse into drug use and eventual overdose.

Demi told Ellen that her previous team had a hand in the factors that lead to her relapse, including her struggles with her weight. “People were checking what my orders were at Starbucks on my bank statement,” she said, referring to her team monitoring her weight.
“It led to me being really unhappy.”

“My bulimia got really bad, and I asked for help, and I didn’t receive the help that I needed,” Demi told Ellen. Ellen corroborated this and discussed how she was told to “hide all the sugar” backstage by Demi’s team before Demi appeared on the show in the past.
“I’m even more miserable than when I was drinking,” Demi recalled thinking.

She said this lead to her wondering “Why am I sober?” and revealed that when she told her team that she was struggling with these ideas, she did not receive the help she needed.
“I reached out to the people on my team and they responded with, ‘You’re being very selfish.'”

Demi said she was told that “this would ruin things for you, and for us, as well.” Demi said this lead to her feeling “totally abandoned.”
Luckily, Demi says she is now surrounded by a new team and feels totally supported.
Demi just released a new single that deals with many of the struggles she has gone through which you can listen to right here.
