When you’ve got a show that’s been on for 28 seasons so far, it can be tough to keep things fresh — especially when it’s a competition show, which means you can’t even come up with new, spicy plotlines to keep things feeling exciting, new, or up-to-date.
Dancing With The Stars may have found a unique and progressive way to make it’s upcoming 29th season stand out.
Steven Price, a former producer on the show, explained that it might just be time for same-s*x pairings on the show.
Price said that the audience is now more accepting of other people’s lifestyles than they were at the beginning of the show, which means there are more casting options than ever.
“The midwest is changing their dynamic now,” he said.
“They are changing. They are being more open to it, because they are being introduced to it,” Price continued, “Same-s*x, it just brings a different twist to it.”
Longtime host of the show, Tom Bergeron, also says he feels like a same-s*x couple is “overdue” for the show.
“Look, in terms of real-life… why not, you know?” Bergeron added.
Professional dancer Gleb Savcnenko added that he would love to see a same-s*x couple on the show, while fellow dancer Sharna Burgess added that same-s*x dancing is “a very real competition” that viewers are “missing out” on.
The show itself has not officially commented on these rumors.
What do you think? Is the show overdue to have a same-s*x couple dance together, or should they stick to what already works? Let us know in the comments below!
