Sadly, it seems there isn’t a day that goes by where a celeb mom faces some sort of mom-shaming from the internet mob. However, the stories in this article show that it’s not only moms who get shamed.
A number of celeb dads have been shamed , and it’s usually for the most ridiculous reasons.
Most of the time, they’re simply trying to parent their children, but of course, everyone needs to voice their opinion online when it comes to other people’s parenting choices these days.
1. Daniel Craig
In October 2018, Piers Morgan tweeted a photo of Daniel Craig wearing his baby with the hashtag #emasculatedBond.
Apparently Piers Morgan has an issue with dads carrying their own children? The whole situation was really confusing.
Thankfully, other celebrities came to Daniel’s defense and roasted Piers Morgan for trying to dad-shame someone for simply parenting their child.
This tweet from fellow actor Chris Evans was particularly scathing.
2. John Stamos
When John Stamos posted this photo to Instagram of him and his son, Billy, people were quick to point out that John had incorrectly put Billy in the carrier.
While baby-carrier safety is important, there’s no need to gang up on a new dad online.
And since there are so many carriers on the market these days, it’s impossible to know which position is correct for every brand.
3. David Beckham
Soccer superstar David Beckham was dad-shamed over this photo of him kissing his daughter.
Really, people? It looks like a normal father-daughter photo to me.
David later defended his choices by saying that he kisses all his younger children on the lips.
“We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them, and we’re very affectionate with them.”
4. Kevin Hart
In November 2018, Kevin Hart came under fire for hosting a western-themed birthday party for his one-year-old son.
Many people thought the theme was culturally insensitive, especially since it was hosted on Thanksgiving weekend.
Kevin Hart defended his family’s choice in an interview saying that the theme was based off of childhood games.
5. John Legend
After John posted this mundane photo of himself carrying his daughter, one commenter wrote , “So tired of seeing them carrying her. She needs no legs then.”
So apparently John carries his toddler too much. I’m *sure* after this helpful advice, he’ll reconsider.
Thankfully, John has learned how to let the hate roll off his shoulders thanks to his wife, Chrissy Teigen .
6. Carey Hart
When Carey Hart, who’s married to singer Pink, posted this picture riding a dirtbike with his young son, people were quick to judge.
Some criticized Carey for not putting more protective gear on his son, while others were mad that he would take his toddler on a bike at all.
7. Scott Disick
People tried to shame Scott Disick over the length of his son’s hair after he posted this picture to his Instagram. People, can we leave this poor child alone?
Maybe he likes having long hair!
8. Justin Timberlake
Similarly, the trolls came for Justin Timberlake after he posted this picture of his son and wife, saying that his son’s hair was too long.
Thankfully, fans were quick to come to JT’s side.
One wrote , “My boys have long hair too, their choice. One has an undercut and one is just long all over. They decide what they do with their hair.”
9. Tom Brady
Tom Brady received a backlash when a clip from his Facebook series Tom vs Time showed him kissing his son on the mouth.
Have people never seen a dad kiss his kids before? It’s really not that big of a deal.
10. Dwayne Wade
Dwayne Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, recently welcomed a baby girl.
Even though their daughter is only a few months old, that hasn’t stopped the dad-shamers from pouncing.
People tried to shame Dwayne for this photo of him kissing his newborn daughter.
“The baby looks unhappy, check ur mouth‘s smelling Dwade,” one troll wrote.
11. Thomas Rhett
When musician Thomas Rhett posted this photo with his daughter on an airplane, some people wondered why she didn’t have a seatbelt on.
Way to jump to conclusions, people. We don’t even know if this photo was taken when they were in the air or not.
12. Kanye West
What was supposed to be a heartwarming birthday message from his wife turned sour when people began criticizing Kanye for how he was holding Chicago and for looking at his phone.
Man, people will try to shame dads over anything these days, won’t they?
13. Chris Pratt
What could possibly be controversial about a father-son fishing trip?
Well, apparently some people were not pleased when Chris took his son, Jack, on one because they believe fishing is cruel.
Many came to Chris’ defense and I hope the memories of this trip weren’t ruined by those negative comments.
14. Dwayne Johnson
When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted this photo of his family at an aquarium, I’m sure the last thing he expected was to be dad-shamed over it.
Some people were upset that he took his daughter to an aquarium because they believe that they promote animal cruelty.
Weirdly, this isn’t the only time people have tried to dad-shame The Rock.
After he posted this skin-to-skin photo with his newborn daughter, a few people tried trolling him , saying that he would take any opportunity to take his shirt off.
What they didn’t realize is that skin-to-skin is a critical and healthy bonding experience for newborns and has a number of physical and emotional benefits for the baby and new parents.
Thankfully, The Rock shut down one hater by tweeting , “good one! Buuuuut one day when you have babies Allison you’ll understand the power of skin to skin.”
15. Jason Momoa
This next display of dad-shaming is so sad.
In 2019, someone went on a smear campaign of the Aquaman actor by doctoring a video to make it look like he was “groping” his daughter, Lola.
This obviously wasn’t the case and it was reported that Momoa would be taking legal action against the video creator.
Don’t mess with this guy!
16. Will Smith
His son, Jaden, may be 21, but the Bad Boys actor is still taking heat for his son’s questionable behavior.
He even once apologized for praising his kids’ “freedom of expression.”
“Yeah, I think it may have been a mistake,” he joked .
“I think we might have gone too far,” he added.
17. Jason Aldean
The country singer and his wife, Brittany Kerr, were criticized for going on vacation and leaving their child at home just a few months after the birth of their son, Memphis.
Brittany ended up addressing the critics on Instagram.
“Just a word of wisdom for all the parent shamers… vacations are ok for new parents to take. Sometimes after being pregnant for almost a year, cooped up in a house for weeks at a time, you need a little sunshine and adult time. If you don’t agree with something, please… do me a favor and unfollow me. You will not be missed,” she wrote .
18. Ryan Reynolds
When wife Blake Lively posted this now-removed photo of the first-time dad on Father’s Day in 2015, people had an issue with how baby James was being hung inside the carrier.
“Poor baby looks so uncomfortable and unsafe,” one commenter wrote.
Ryan later shot back at the haters on the Today Show , saying,
” […] I’m a first-time dad. And that is not the first mistake I’ve made and I can guarantee it won’t be the last.”
