Mourning and grief happen differently for everyone. Some people prefer to experience it entirely privately, or just among their close friends, while others prefer to share their journey publicly to foster connections and allow others to relate to their experience.
Both are valid ways to process a loss, but when a celebrity uses their vast influence to share an experience, it can be a humanizing and very touching moment.
Anderson Cooper’s mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, passed away on June 17th, 2019.

Gloria was an artist, author,a ctress, designer, heiress, and socialite who passed away last year at the age of 95. Her son, CNN anchor Andersoon Cooper, has paid tribute to the one year anniversary of her passing with a touching post on his Instagram.
“My mom, @gloriavanderbilt, died one year ago today,” he wrote.

“She is alive in my heart and in the hearts of all who knew her and loved her. She had an extraordinary and indomitable spirit, grit, determination, passion, and vulnerability,” Anderson shared alongside this photograph of his mother next to an easel.
His post continued.

“She experienced great love and horrific tragedies, but she never lost her almost childlike optimism; her openness to the world around her. She chose to remain vulnerable,” Anderson wrote. He had previously shared photographs he had found in his mother’s belongings on Instagram as well.
Anderson finished by congratulating his mother for staying true to herself.

“Others would have closed off their hearts, protected themselves. My mom wanted to see and hear and feel everything….and that is exactly what she did. Bravo, Mom, Bravo.”
What a touching post! We’re sure that Gloria would be as moved as we are reading it.
The comments flooded with support for Anderson and his family.

“May she Rest In Peace. I am sure she if she can watch you, she would be so proud of you for who you are and everything you are doing Anderson,” wrote one fan.
We couldn’t agree more!
