Breakups can definitely get messy, especially when there are kids involved. If you’re one of those people who manages to stay friends with all their exes, you probably know that sometimes people can be a little judgmental — especially if you’re still living with your ex!
Anderson Cooper is currently in the same situation with his ex-partner, Benjamin Maisani.
Anderson Cooper is a loving father to his 9-month-old son, Wyatt.

The CNN anchor is co-parenting his young child with his ex, Benjamin Maisani, who he dated for nine years before they split in 2018.
It turns out that their breakup doesn’t mean that they’re not still in each other’s lives.
Anderson’s baby news came as a surprise to many fans.

Anderson, who used a surrogate, did not reveal that he was expecting a baby until Wyatt was born. “I want to share with you some joyful news,” Anderson shared at the time. “On Monday, I became a father.”
“This is Wyatt Cooper.”

“He is three days old. He is named after my father, who died when I was ten. I hope I can be as good a dad as he was. My son’s middle name is Morgan. It’s a family name on my mom’s side,” Anderson continued.
Anderson’s sweet post continued.

“I know my mom and dad liked the name morgan because I recently found a list they made 52 years ago when they were trying to think of names for me,” he wrote.
Anderson also spoke about how significant having a child was to him as a gay man.

“As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child, and I’m grateful for all those who have paved the way, and for the doctors and nurses and everyone involved in my son’s birth,” he wrote.
“Most of all, I am grateful to a remarkable surrogate who carried Wyatt, and watched over him lovingly, and tenderly, and gave birth to him.”

“It is an extraordinary blessing – what she, and all surrogates give to families who cant have children. My surrogate has a beautiful family of her own, a wonderfully supportive husband, and kids, and I am incredibly thankful for all the support they have given Wyatt and me. My family is blessed to have this family in our lives,” he shared.
While at the time Anderson made no mention of his ex-partner, he has now opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about their co-parenting situation.
Anderson confirmed that Benjamin was helping him raise Wyatt.

“We actually still live in the same house because we get along really well,” Anderson told Ellen . “It works out. It was interesting because he wasn’t really sure he wanted to have a kid, which was one of the reasons we probably broke up.”
Anderson revealed that that hadn’t stopped Benjamin from being a fantastic father to Wyatt.

“But then he came around on the idea, and now he is just such a great parent,” Anderson said. Though he acknowledged it was a “weird” situation to be co-parenting with his ex, when it came to the possibility of the two getting back together, Anderson was firm: “No. It’s not going to happen.”
It’s awesome that Wyatt has so many people in his life to love and care for him!
