Amy Schumer is one of those celebrities who always keeps it real, which is incredibly refreshing. It feels like so many celebrities are so preoccupied with being perfect and unattainable that it’s so nice when one of them is real with us — the people!
And do you know who is always real? Comedian and mom, Amy friggin Schumer.
Now, the 40-year-old is getting candid about her recent surgery.
As fans of this actress and comedian know, Amy has been real with fans since day one. For example, her turbulent pregnancy is something she documented for fans on social media and in her documentary, Expecting Amy .
Viewers saw how Amy battled her rare pregnancy condition, called hyperemesis gravidarum, and how she handled her c-section.
Last year, Amy shared with fans that she had undergone hysterectomy after battling endometriosis for several years.
“So, it’s the morning after my surgery for endometriosis and my uterus is out,” she told fans in an video posted at the time.
“The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis that he removed. He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it.”
“There was a lot, a lot of blood in my uterus and I’m, you know, sore and I have some, like, gas pains,” Amy added.
To spread further awareness about the condition, she shared a mirror selfie in her hospital gown.
“If you have really painful periods you may have #endometriosis,” she captioned the post.
A few weeks post-surgery, Amy got vocal about her frustrations with modern medical care for women and how completely lacking it is.
“And anyone wondering if this is connected to my difficult pregnancy and hyperemesis I say [explective] yes!”
“I can’t answer medically because there is no research on this [explective] because they only happen TO WOMEN and there is no time to study them because all resources need to be funneled into researching ERECTILE DISFUNCTION.”
She continued: “THERE IS BARELY ANY RESEARCH ON ENDOMETRIOSIS WHICH OVER 10 percent of women have. ALL FUNDING SEEMS TO GO TO [explective]MEREGENCIES.”
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE LACK OF WOMEN’S HEALTHCARE RESOURCES IN THE BACK!
Now, the mom and wife is sharing her recent surgeries with fans in a new Instagram post.
Smiling on the beach in a super cute black one-piece bathing suit, Amy wrote: “I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey thanks for helping me get my strength back @seckinmd (endo) @jordanternermd (lipo).”
She continued: “never thought i would do anything but talk to me after your uterus doesn’t contract for 2.5 years and you turn 40.”
“Let’s go!” she concluded.
Friends and fans alike were celebrating Amy in the comments section.
“Healthy, s**y, happy, love it,” wrote fellow female comedian Mindy Kaling.
“So happy you feel good AND this hot tamale peekaboo back SUIT,” agreed Sas Goldberg.
“Congratulations,” echoed Michelle Pfeiffer.
Way to go, Amy!
