It’s hard to be vulnerable in public about the things in life you’ve struggled with, especially when you’re a celebrity and the entire Internet will bare witness to your vulnerability.
That’s why it’s so inspiring when celebrities take that risk and acknowledge their struggles and journeys in public, just like actor Zachary Quinto has done on Instagram.
Quinto is best known for his work in the *American Horror Story* series.
He also played Spock in the Star Trek, Star Trek Beyond, and Star Trek Into Darkness films, and was Sylar on Heroes .
Quinto took to Instagram on May 24th to celebrate another kind of achievement not related to his prolific work.

Alongside this post-workout photo, Quinto shared that he was celebrating a sobriety milestone on that day.
“Four years sober sun-kissed selfie. grateful for today!” the actor wrote, drawing praise and support from fans and friends alike.
Actor Kevin Zegers commented, “So fantastic, Z. Congrats.” while Matt Bomer added, “Proud of you, Zach!” among the legions of fans sharing their congratulations.
Other celebrities celebrating sobriety on Instagram include Rob Lowe.
Rob shared this similar photo on his Instagram , writing, “30 years ago today, I found a sober life of true happiness and fulfillment. I am filled with gratitude on this anniversary,” and adding “If you or someone you love is struggling with any kind of addiction, there is hope!”
Rapper Eminem also celebrated a sobriety milestone on his Instagram.
Eminem celebrated 12 years sober by sharing his 12 year chip with the caption, “Clean dozen, in the books! I’m not afraid.”
