Legendary journalist, weather forecaster, and television personality Al Roker has just opened up about a prostate cancer diagnosis at the age of 66.
Al revealed the news on Today on November 6th, receiving well-wishes, thoughts, and prayers from many fans all over the country and all over the world.
Al Roker has been a staple at NBC for over 40 years.

On Today on November 6th, Al revealed that after a routine checkup in September, he received the diagnosis that he had prostate cancer.
“It’s a good news-bad news kind of thing,” Al said. “Good news is we caught it early.”
“Not great news is that it’s a little aggressive, so I’m going to be taking some time off to take care of this.”

Al revealed the personal reason he decided to share his diagnosis publicly, saying, “I decided I wanted to go public with this because one in nine men are going to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, but for African American men it’s one in seven and it’s more deadly.”
“If detected early, this is a really treatable disease,” Al revealed.
“I don’t want people thinking ‘Oh, poor Al,’ because I’m gonna be OK,” Al said.
We’re sending so many thoughts and well-wishes for Al during this difficult time, and we admire his optimism greatly!
