There are many life lessons we learn throughout our lives.
Some we learn early on when we’re young and we get ourselves out of some bad situations . But, other times, we learn things later on as we get older and look back, realizing all the mistakes that we have made.
Wisdom does happen to come with age, and now people are sharing theirs.
Being around the wrong people can really hurt you.

tre35672 said that one thing they learned as they got older was that being around the wrong people is toxic. So toxic, that being around the wrong people can seriously decrease your quality of life overall.
No one knows what they are doing.

moto_x_crash says that no matter where you work or what you are doing, most of us have absolutely no idea what we are really doing. We may think everyone knows best, or even more, but we’re all learning as we go.
People are very shallow.

“It’s sad to say but sometimes how shallow people can be (myself included). People easily like to make quick judgments about you based on your ethnicity, race, s*x, gender, beauty, income, profession thinking they know everything about you and who are you; when in fact these factors don’t define a person’s character, intelligence, capacities and who they truly are as a person,” said KeyBathroom516.
Very few people care.

As sad as it is, many people shared that as you get older, you realize how few people actually care about you deeply. Some pretend they do, others semi-care, but there are few people who truly, and utterly, do care.
Things add up.

fried-dumplings said that one life lesson they learned was that everything gets expensive once you start to pay for your own stuff. When you are young and your parents are still supporting you, you don’t see the price tags.
Many people are lost at sea.

lilapplesaucy said that for people with mental health disorders and disabilities, if your family isn’t there to support you, there are few safety nets in society to help them out. You’re pretty much screwed if you don’t have help.
We’re all dying as we speak.

Amy-Paradise says that one thing that s***s is thinking about life and our life span. Every breath we take, we are closer to dying. Every moment we spend having fun is another moment closer to death.
It’s all the same song and dance.

COVID-69420bbq says one thing they noticed was that life is just a bunch of different versions of high school.
The only thing that changes is how old we are and how old our bodies are. But, everywhere is the same. It’s all a popularity competition.
People are awful and sometimes just horrible.

“In general, most people are horrible and awful. And if they felt that they are not being watched they would do even more horrible things. Most people stay away from doing the wrong thing not because of their conscience but because of the accountability,” said More-Masterpiece-561.
You waste your life a lot.

7daysofire says you spend 1/3 of your life working, and for someone who doesn’t appreciate you.
Another 1/3 of your life is spent sleeping. The last 1/3 you would think is for enjoyment, but it’s usually for other “work.”
People use you.

virgilreality said most people in your life always want you for some reason.
Some people use you for money, others for your time and your wisdom, others just use you for whatever else you can do for them.
A lot of life is luck.

TheBigBrainedSquid said you can work hard and try your best to get to where you want to be, but in reality, a lot of life is about luck.
Whether or not you are lucky enough to meet the right people at the right time.
Time is relative.

“Time is relative and to us. The last decades of our life, although a longer duration will speed by faster than our youth. As time runs out it also speeds up until you realize at the end that you should have done more and now it’s too late,” said groovy604.
You’ll lose touch with everyone eventually.

Dane8813 said a lot of times, you lose touch with the people who matter most to you for periods of time. You drift away from many people who seemingly may have been a big part of your world at one point in time.
Life always goes on.

“That for better or for worse life goes on. Something good happened today? Great, today ends and tomorrow comes. Something terrible happened today? That s***s, same thing. Moments good and bad are fleeting, nothing ACTUALLY matters. The sun will rise tomorrow with or without you,” said Internal-Stable-9162.
